Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a LONG time, I have been CRAZY busy the last two months and just haven't had the time to post-process all the pictures Ive taken. Well, Im getting back into the routine, I have over 20 cars I still need to post and more on the way! This car I am about to post really was an amazing machine. Ive always been a huge Porsche fan and the owner gave me the opportunity to drive this Turbo(well just say its no slouch even today! ;) ) This car is kept meticulously clean, washed regularly, only runs on race gas, etc. However, a majority of the paint was the original single stage Guards Red and was beginning to fade and had some surface scratches, rids, etc. I was really surprised how well it turned around and the owner was just blown away that his 1994 Porsche will now turn more heads than some of the new ones!

NOTE: Please forgive me on some of the photographs, my camera is about half broken so it doesn't take the most consistent shots anymore. If anyone has a Nikon D3000, let me know how you like it!

Here you can see some of the swirling, very minor for the age of the paint.

In this picture, you can see the door has faded a bit from the color of the fenders.

Washed and Clayed.

07.jpg

Original wheels cleaned(as well as the "Big Red" rotors)

After the wash, I began prepping the care by taping off any vulnerable edges or rubber moldings. I was having difficulties picking up the defects with my camera, although I performed 2-3 passes(some areas such as rear 1/4s required more work) with M105/PFW and followed with M205/Orange via DA for the correction work.

The wiper cowl was carefully corrected. BEFORE.

AFTER.

Passenger Front Fender after correction work, no LSP.

Passenger side door after correction work, no LSP.

11.jpg

Rear 1/4 Panel(required the most work out of any other part of the car). No LSP.

12.jpg

Original paint, still as glossy as day 1!

The sun decided to peak out while the car was still inside to show the true condition of the original paint. ;)

Some final shots, my camera wasnt cooperating with the brightness so forgive the saturated look.

After three coats of Blackfire and two coats of Midnight Sun. :D

Nice detail, love that car. Just beautiful. I do have a couple questions though. (Noob alert)

If that paint is a single stage (relatively soft compared to modern clear coats from my understanding) then why was such an aggressive method needed? A compound on the rotary with wool (or foamed wool, as it is here.)?

Anyways, beautiful car, just trying to understand the single stage more as I've never worked on one.

Wow what a sweet car. I fell in love with that car when I saw it in Bad Boys with Will Smith (that car was actually black). Nice work, it looks better than new.

Can't beat a perfectly detailed Guards Red 993 Turbo! Those things are still worth a lot more than most 996 Turbos.

Probably one of my favorite cars.

It does have single stage paint, which you can make very deep and reflective relatively easy, however I was after perfection on this one and it had some issues deep down(i know you cant see them in the before because I forgot to take them..:aww:) but the paint needed much love. I spent roughly 24 hours on this Porsche over 2 1/2 days and this Sunday it will be at Porsches in the park in sarasota, fl. Well see how many looks its gets compared to the new ones! ;)

Sorry, that is a 964 Turbo.

But I must agree with you; the Porsche 993 Turbos were the best.

Holy gloss Batman!!!:wow:

That is one perfectly detailed Porsche...

Top notch work once again, Billy!

Glad to hear your busy! It's probably one of the busiest years ever for me...

Are you sure its an 3.6 "S"?? If so its a "package car" which means its 1 of 17 and 1 of only 1 in Guards Red. You can read a bit more about the "package cars" here: The Flatnose Porsche Package Model USA (consequently the package cars trade hands north of $130k compared to the standard 3.6 fetching $80-$90k)

I am thinking more likely its "just" a 3.6 Turbo without the "S" option. Nonetheless it is my dream car....:wavey

I went over the pics again and it is not an "S" (no inlets in front of the rear wheels). No need to pester the owner. :bigups

Nice work again...
