Prescription for silver ( GM)

I did a 601/105 followed by 111.

The rest of the car is done with 1 coat OPT OS with OID as a detail spray. looks pretty good so far....

Ahh 111 is a love it or hate it product. I would have been concerned if you hated 105. 111 tries to emulate a wax and ends up looking like a laminated surface. I personally find the look good on some cars. Z2 will be much deeper and clearer. Perhaps a bit less glassy than OS but the look stays while OS fades a bit quicker.

I haven't tried a lot of products on silver.. the ones I did were all sealants though... Werkstatt acrylic jett trigger and Duragloss 105 definitely made the flake pop and the car look really nice in general. They just work well on lighter colors.

Can I use Z2 without the ZFX ?

I have some Z aio , Z5 , Z2 ( the Z5 and Z2) are on loan from another detailer so I did not have to spend much money.

In what order should I do these ? Do I have to wait in between ?

You can use ZFX+Z2 or ZAIO+Z2.... or just Z2. The Zainozealots will tell you otherwise, but it works fine, might sacrifice some durability, but not much if you use it on a truly clean surface.

I'd do ZAIO+Z2, all in one session. From what I'm hearing, you are all about the looks. The application method doesn't change the look, it changes the durability. Figure out what you like, then if it works, worry about the perfect application procedure.

I also have some Z5.

I was going to do a Zaio , Z5 , and the Z2.

CAN I apply Zaio and Z5 using a PC with a finish pad on low speed and then do Z 2 by hand ???

Z5 under Z2 won't do much more than waste product. I'd split the car in two and do one side Z5 one Z2, might be able to see a slight difference then. All that layering Zaino is total hype. Z2 looks just great on its own, I've never noticed any difference with what is "underneath" it.

The reality of it is, all the Z stuff has strong carrier solvents in it. Try it on some tar, it works great!

Just giving you guys a "so far" update . I have tried many combo's on 2 silver vehicles. The products are listed above. The best results so far has been OPT "GPS" followed by OS and getting great results also with Megs Ult. Polish and liquid wax and paste wax.

Im still not quite there though as the prev owner actually has a tiny more darker reflection that I do BUT thats to my eye .Everyone else looked at it could not see the difference , but you all know how call of us can pick stuff apart and see stuff others cannot...lol.

Well yesterday I started from scratch. Dawn wash , a more aggressive clay , dawn wash , OPT/GPS , OS and I did a test panel the other day topped with OCW and was worried it would mute things , but quite the opposite happened so I did the whole car this was and finally have a stunning look (at least for silver ) the OCW on top of the GPS and OS looks very fluid/wet . You guys know when the wife actually notices a difference , you know you did a good job.

Another thing I clayed and prepped vehicle ( a second time)once before and it just was not looking the way that paint should. So I think doing the 2 dawn washes before and after the more aggressive clay bar came out 100% different (this time I used a mixture of ONR for claying in it picked out a lot more junk) . Had a very clean , bright , smooth surface to work with. Since the paint was well taken care of and can't see a marring mark in it even with different types of light I decided on the GPS. Kudos to OPT !!!

Thanks all you guys for your help on this. I learned a lot. Now just have to master the OC...lol.

One more thing with the GPS I used a PC since i did not see a reason to break out the rotary. Finishing pad on 4.5 speed .
