Hey gang
My car goes in to the body shop on Monday for 3 days to repair and repaint the door.
It's not a "Hollywood" shop in that all the cars are always inside in an almost-sterile environment, from what I can tell from the one trip I made there. The driveway is gravel, and I'm guessing the cars are parked outside on the gravel when not being worked on. If they leave the 4 bay doors open then I'm sure the car will pick up not only body shop particles but also some road dust.
So.. anything I should do to prep the finish for a visit to body shop hell?
I considered giving them a car cover but think that's a bad idea, all they'll do is toss it on at some point probably after it's coated with dirt and then rub it around while putting it on or taking it off. Bad idea.
I am going to tell them to avoid washing the car before giving it back to me or doing anything to the finish on the parts they don't work on. Maybe that will avoid some scratching/swirls.
but.. should I coat the clearcoat with something to try to make it a little more durable/resistant to the crap that's going to be settling on it?
