Prep Products for Soft Paints

I have a HONDA and a MITSUBISHI car... since Honda clearcoats are softer compared to other clearcoats... what products are safe in order to prepare the surface for a sealant/lsp.



for the Honda, it's still relatively new with minor swirls and light scrathes.

for the Mit, it's old already with minor oxidation, swirls and scratches.



Pls recommend products that will work for both. :)

My off-the-cuff recommendation would probably be 1z MetallicPolishWax, but not if you're using a sealant for your LSP (carnauba LSP only). If that's not strong enough for the Mistu then I'd probably go with Optimum or Menzerna FPII.

both #80 and #83 are good to have in the arsenal. also, lots on here love the optimum line of polishes and compounds as well...

Can't help with the PoorBoy's but with Meg's you have to be a little careful. I've had paint that was too soft for the initial bite of #80 yet too hard for barely-abrasive stuff like #9. Didn't try #82 though, so that might be a thought.



You sure don't run into paint that's too soft for #80 very often, but it can be a real quandry when you do if you don't have a zillion products on the shelf.



With the Meg's stuff, make sure that the "trade secret oils" don't hide any residual marring (if you care about that). I've had #80/#9 do a surprising amount of concealing...an "AIO-type" product cleaned the oils off and a lot of light marring appeared to "come back". Normally I wouldn't mind the concealing, but it's worth keeping in mind.
