Prep for Applying Vinyl Stripes

Hi folks :)

I'm due to pick up a new MINI Cooper S at the weekend :D or Monday :( :D

I'll then be fitting a pair of bonnet (hood  ) stripes to it.

So the question is, what should I do to prep the surface first before applying the vinyl stripes

I'm thinking it will be just a wash, clay and wash again :nixweiss

Then after the stripes are firmly stuck, apply wax to the bonnet (hood  )

Go with your typical cleaning:

wash, clay, paint cleaner, then alcohol/water 50/50..If the area needs polishing, do that after claying, then water/alcohol.

Cheers Patrick, I'll dig out the P21s cleaner or should I use AIO :nixweiss  :)

As it's new it shouldn't need polishing, at least I hope not

Thanks Steven :)

As long as your happy with present surface condition, AIO will be fine ! The reason I mention the alcohol, is you really want a contaminant free surface, alcohol will remove any oils, highly recommend you use it befor eapplying the graphics. Course if its 3M vinyl, its gonna stick, period.....

P21S is an abrasive (although very mild) polish

AIO is formulated with chemical cleaners.

Given those choices I'd go with AIO. Enjoy the new mini (what's the paint colour(s)?)

AIO it is then :D cheers guys

TOGWT colour is pepper white with black roof and mirrors, same as BradB.

I'll post some pics when I've got the stripes done and the spotlights fitted.
