So this little Miata was done a week ago. Apparently its a rare special edition with factory installed air conditioning. The car had a nice coat of dust on it when we got and I had a BBQ to go to later that day so we got right down to business right away. We prepared for the detail by reading up on Autopia for the type of paint that it was, I suspected that it was single stage paint, and upon seeing other click-and-brags, my suspicions were confirmed. The owner opted-out of an interior detail.
Our process was:
Wash
Clay
303 for the top, wheel wells, and the tires
SSR 2.5 on Orange Pad via UDM
SSR 2 on Orange Pad via UDM
SSR 1 on White Pad via UDM
Pinnacle Souvern Liquid Wax on Black Pad via UDM
Although this doesn't show it too well, this is what the car looked like upon our arrival. It was a swirly mess.
My attempt at a 50/50 shot. The color of the paint was noticably lighter and clearer than the untouched parts, it was a nice deep green that reminds me of the British Racing Green found on old sports cars.
Here's the finished product.
And another shot.
The workhorse in the background.
The pads definately needed a good wash after the detail.
