Pre-wax Cleaners

I was just wondering when everyone used the pr-wax cleaners? I use to clay and clean before waxing when I did everything by hand but now I am wondering where this product falls into place?
As I would think it would be used only to remove past sealants and starting over am I wrong?

I use them when my paint doesn't need a full polishing out with an abrasive such as FP II or similar but it doesn't look it's best either. I then clay and use a pre wax cleaner (my favorites are VM and GEPC) and then my LSP. From then on I apply my LSP when needed or when I feel like it until it needs a pre wax cleaning again. I probably do the pre wax cleaner thing about 3 or 4 times a year.

If I am going to detail a car that I am not familiar with, I will sometimes use a chemical polish to "clean up" the paint to get a better look at it and see how aggressive I may or may not need to be to remove other defects.

i have had good luck with wolfgang pre-wax polish enhancer, matter of fact i still use it.. like stated, wont do much i you have a lot of defects though...

They are a regular part of my upkeep, but not terribly often.

Twice a year: Swirl removal, Paint Cleaner, LSP
Each month: LSP
Every 3-4 months: Paint Cleaner, LSP
