Pre ride/show detail: 2010 Yamaha R1

My friends motorcycle dealership is having grand re-opening today (BBQ, free food, beer, bikini wash, sales, etc) and asked me to stop by. My R1 (Toothless) is kind of my work horse. It is pretty much daily driver and see about 60+/- miles a day, not including weekend rides. Since I bought my truck new in December, it has been absorbing all the attention. Last night, I decided to make it look pretty for todays ride/show. It was never in bad shape but it has been a few months since I have sat down with it and gave it the full attention it deserves. Still have some minor things to finish up on it today but knocked the majority of it out last night.

Some products used:
Nevr Dull
GG SS
Meg`s GC QW
Meg`s GC Shampoo (2bm)
Meg`s Natural Shine

The exhaust was really filthy and NevR Dull cleaned it right up. It does need some machine polishing to take out some light scratches but this works for now.

Before:

Right side polished, left side not polished:

Looks good, and nice passenger! Also nice to see a liter bike with some wear on the sides, a lot of them I see have huge chicken strips.

Thanks guys! I will get some better pictures after work. Working on another `project` today at work.

I even combed her hair! I have had nine bikes total and only one being a 600. The rest have been liter bikes. I guess for being 90% interstate, those chicken strips aren`t terrible. I really make sure to scrub them getting on the on ramp though. I used to really cook them on my `04 R1, but those were the days when I was more brave and stupid.

For public roads, it`s not bad. Mine were similar as I was never comfortable enough to be fully into it on public roads. I always liked to have a little lean left in case of emergencies.
I don`t have many pictures but here`s how mine were.

What tires are you running? Something in between for commuting and twisty runs?

Very nice! I have only owned one GSXR in all my bikes. I have had quite a few. 2003 R6, two R1`s (2004 and current 2010), two ZX-10R`s (`04` and `08), 2003 RC51, 2006 CBR 1KRR, `02 954RR, and an `08 GSXR 600. Guess I have had two 600`s but I only bought the GSXR because it was a flipper. Currently I am running Pirelli Diablos because my friend is a Pirelli Dealer. I got them dirt cheap and they are ok for what I do. They do sometimes spin but crossplane R1`s are brutal on rear tires.

Here is a picture of my `04 R1 when I used to get really wild. I wish I would have taken close pictures because where the rubber is peeling, you can see the rainbow discoloration from them getting so hot. On that bike, I don`t think the chicken strip was more than an 1/8". This of course was on a public road in Mexico...

Training wheels ?!?!?!?!? :rofl

Looks great!

Need a video with that exhaust. Those R1s sound so beastly!

These crossplane R1`s sound like nothing else on the round. Here is so crappy cell phone vids from when I first got it and my brother taking it for a spin. It sound so much when you are cruising and crack it wide open. She screams.
