Prayers needed for one of our own

Updates: today will be my first day home alone

I have not craved a smoke, at all. Kind of funny...they tried to Rx me chantix which I declined. I told my cardiologist, "If a heart attack at 34 isn`t a strong enough wake up call to change my ways, then I dont know what is." It`s not like I was a freight train anyways.

I`ve lost 10 lbs since the first er clinic visit which started this journey.

To be honest, the adjustment period really hasn`t sunk in yet.

The worst part of the entire situation is I don`t think I can work for at least another week and I`m not getting paid at my day job currently.

My charity backpack raffle just sold out (woot woot!) and I probably can`t honor that detail until August or so, but I have no doubt the winner will understand.

The hardest part is the diet. Definitely.

The best part has been the support from my fellow Autopians, honestly.

I`ve been cooking my own meals for over 2 years.

I do not eat fast food. Haven`t in quite some time.

When I started working from home I joined blue apron for over a year and stopped the service a few months ago. Made myself a little cookbook out of those meals but they`re not exactly heart healthy.

Diet is low sodium, low carb.
Mostly chicken, fish and steak-maybe once a week.

Went to HEB yesterday, got lots of fruits, greens, veggies and chicken. Also some mahi.

Sodium is the devil! I`ve been cutting back myself for a while (as for me it has caused bladder/frequent going issues, ugh) and I`m amazed at how much salt is in pre-packaged stuff. Even the "heart healthy" labeled stuff is a joke! Previously being on the road and being in hotels without a kitchenette we had to go out to eat, and everything in restaurants are loaded with salt. Looking at the labels at the grocery store will certainly become the norm. After a while if you try and eat something salty it will taste horrible. I`ve lost 20-25lbs just cutting back the junk! Keep at it Brandt!

About the only thing I miss about living in Houston, is HEB. If you are buying salmon, make sure it`s wild caught. Atlantic salmon is farm raised, and feed gmo corn. Not to mention gmo salmon itself. Mussels are easy to cook, and can be used in a verity of ways.

During initial clinic drive in...top

Since I`ve been home...bottom

Not bad

that display at 11:25 might bother me

512Detail- Glad you`re making such good progress already!

I`m confident that you`ll find healthful food that you like, just might take a bit of experimenting.

So I called the 24 hour nurse line because I was freaking out that my latest blood pressure reading was 106 over 73 and she was like, umm sir that`s fantastic.

Thanks.
I`ve never had such a collection of fresh herbs, spices, fruits, veggies and non red meats.

Just need a few heart healthy cook books or something.

Ask your Doc to send you to a Heart Healthy cooking class. Most heart doc`s have someone in their office that puts the classes on.

Lesson learned - look in your grocery store`s bulk (unbagged) produce section for herbs and stuff. At my normal store, a twist-tied bunch of parsley is $1 where the little plastic boxes are $3+. I wasted a bunch of money before figuring that out...

I think a lot of recipe sites (I`ve used allrecipes_com a lot) will have healthy sections, or even filters for what kinda cooking you`re looking to do.

Actually I would be more concerned about that bottom number being in the 90`s. That`s kind of high. Meds have gotten me down to 94/52. When it starts getting too low you`ll start feeling really tired...

That`s good. I saw you post those numbers, then the post about taking Nitro, thought you might be going back in. 70`s is good.
I might be taking the nitros when I dont really need them. I`m still new to this and not used to just laying around. And considering I probably had the main heart attack on Friday and drove myself to the ER the next morning feeling better than friday, well..its just all so new.

I called the Nurse line earlier and they said that blood pressure and potentially going back in are not necessarily related . So then I asked if I could talk to the doctor and they send me to the on call line and they told me the doctor will call me back in 20 minutes and that was at 6:15 and it`s 9 o`clock now. So I haven`t even gone to my 1st cardio appointment with this doctor`s office yet and I already don`t trust them.

Seems to be a cadilogy thing. The cardiologist I go to never calls back, neither does anyone else in his office. My mother was having problems with her meds and they didn`t call her back for three days, she`s 86 and had bypass surgery about 30 days before this happened.
Are you feeling like your heart isn`t beating right, feeling it beat in a different place, or chest pains when you`re taking the nitro?
