They really have no idea. I mean I`m a smoker (well ex smoker now) but I dont drink much and I do not eat fast or processed food. They said i probably had some random genetic predisposition.

Initial private er shipped me to hospital for heart attack and later that day two docs said "no way you had a heart attack"

Then they did the cardio cath to check and found all kinds of bad news.

Both of those doctors came and apologized to me and I said hey ok,it`s ok, that`s why it`s called practicing medicine.

I misdiagnose which ball joint was creaking on a car, or someone’s Check Engine Light comes back on for something unrelated to what I fixed, and I get strung up by the customer like I’m the worst guy in the world. You have 2 Doctors miss that you had a heart attack, and ... You’re a top shelf dude, man. This is why we’re glad you’re sticking around!

Other than meds, was there any talk of what lies ahead long term?

As much as it’s kind of frustrating that it’s not like you were chain smoking in McDonalds parking lot before heading to the bar before; at least it sounds like you won’t be having to make huge life changes to keep yourself healthy.

Overall that`s a good thing, right? Compared to "oh gee, what can we do about ..[uncommon problem].." it`s blocked arteries that oughta respond to conventional treatment, right?

Scary stuff!!!!

Brandt, aw man. I read through all the post and was hoping for the best as I read along.

Hard to believe with the scary/crazy/etc going on, you were on here cracking jokes (iPod one really cracked me up).

Glad to see you didn`t need surgery. You`ll be in my (and wife`s) prayers.

One was 100% blocked, they put a stint in there.

A few others were clogged up about 40%

They`ve been coming in all day, someone new, telling me what to expect coming forward.

Kind of overwhelming but I have to make some changes, even though there`s really no "this is what caused the heart attack" statements.

They upgraded me to a newer ipod :)
Not touch screen tho :(

Jokes are just part of my personality.
Hell, I was trying to sell the surgeon CSL+EXO for his ride before they drugged me up for the cardio cath.

It`s a pretty safe assumption cholesterol was a factor, and of course smoking. Good luck with the quitting by the way. At your age I assume you`ve tried at least a couple times along the way. It`s definitely tough. Hopefully the added incentive will be a help. You`ll have a few days start when you get out, that helps. Just don`t fool yourself into thinking it will be ok to have just one.

Tell them them to loose the cables, you want Bluetooth!

Yes I know it`ll be tough but I read somewhere it takes 7 days for nicotine to get out of your body so I`m already 4 days once I`m released.

To be honest I`ve been looking for a reason to quit, and if a heart attack at 34 isn`t sufficient enough then I dont know what would be.

Even if it`s really serious it`s great to hear they found what it was. Hope you come back better than before when you are healed up. It`s some scary thing to get through.

Are they going to adress those 40% blockage later or will the medicine tackle that?

Rest up as much you can and then follow what ever rehab they suggest when times come.

The 40% they said is my responsibility to not get worse..diet, pills, etc.

The doc made a great analogy after he put the baloon/stint in my 100% blocked artery.

He already knew I did detailing so he said, How do you feel when you detail a car to look great and then you see it again and the owner has messed it up?

I said, it angers me. Like they didnt appreciate my artistry.

To which he replied, so how do you think I`m going to feel if I ever see you on this table again?

You`re 34, this should have never happened, but I just gave you a new life so you better take advantage of it.

Doc coming with the truth! Told my wife about this and me being 34 this is a wake up call. I definitely have been putting off seeing a doctor for a check up.
