Power Lock formula tweak?

I had originally picked up a small PL sample in trade and used it on 3 different rides. It applied fairly easily (just not the easiest to spread) but did dust somewhat upon removal. These were applied by machine. It seemed to haze quite quickly like what some polycharged products do as you spread it. When you polycharge something (using the kit), it really accelerates the hazing process - almost as you spread.

I ended up getting another bottle in trade and used it just recently and had a different experience. It spread easier and removed very easily with minimal buffing plus it felt a little slicker but that is subjective given not the same paint/car. The time to haze was longer as well.

It could have been possibly an bad original sample (aged, not shaken prior to putting in the sample bottle) but others have posted about PL less than best ease of application/removal and wondering if there was some change.

Maybe time for an email to Menzerna USA.

The product I have exhibits similar traits to the second bottle you tried. I do like this product and haven't had any issues with it so far.
 
i use a lot of this product. it does require some effort. the key for me is a auto gly pad for the tight areas. they work fantastically and i find i use it for entire areas all the time instead of pulling out the random. they had them on sale at wal mart when the wax was being run out. try one for sure
 
I am wondering about this as well. I am almost through my original bottle of PL. I agree it is a little hard to spread at times. I originally got it because of the reviews saying it was very similar to BFWD but cheaper.


Having now used BFWD I will more then likely switch to it unless the formula has changed. For my BFWD is much easier to apply and remove. In my opinion the looks between the 2 are very similar. So in this case I will have to choose quality over price.


I would love it if companies would sell sealants and liquid waxes in 8oz sizes. It can take so long to go through even a 16oz bottle when it applies so thin.
 
I've found powerlock to be one of the easiest sealants I have ever used. I actually got the first bottle sold from DD and it worked great from day 1 until I finished it and my 2 bottles after that have worked great as well.

I always applied via DA, let sit for 20-30 and then buffed off. Quick water wipedown a few hours later and never an issue.

I have not experienced any dusting with Menz Power Lock (MPL). MPL is the easiest sealant on the market.

According to ADS, with the introduction of new packaging MPL, they added more polymers into it. I am not sure what the polymers will do in real case but I will call it an improved formula.

How can I tell if I have the new packaging but then I got mine second batch from rwright in a trade? I am starting to think that these type sealants have a shorter shelf life.

The lesson here also is when someone gets a sample and does not like the results there may be other factors.

The old packaging MPL has a white bottle green label
white the new MPL has a black bottle green label.
thats if u have a retail bottle.

the products pretty much look the same green liquid that requires some shaking before use or it will separate.
