Post Your FALL Calendar Shots!

Ok, I had water spots on my car, and I have some Meguiar's Quick Detail Mist and Wipe stuff, but I have a question, Water spots are composed of calcium, lime, and other mineral deposits, right? So, when I spray the QD on the car, and start to rub it in as suggested, am I not making sandpaper? Does the hard water deposits, calcium, and lime turn into microscopic mineral sand paper on my cotton terry cloth towel rubbing up against my finish? If so, what should I do to correct this problem?

If you wish to look at it in those terms, then everything you wipe your car with is like rubbing sandpaper. For instance, right after you wash and dry your car, dust immediately starts to settle on your car. If you wax your car afterwards, then essentially you are rubbing not only the wax onto your car, but also the minutely accumulated dust particles, even if it's a small amount.

That's why it is important to use a high-quality MF or cotton towel with a good sized nap in its threads when doing anything to your paint, including QDing off a watermark. Use light pressure, switch towel sides (or even the entire towel) frequently. Also, the QD acts as a lubricant to reduce the abrasion cause by dust or calcium getting between your towel and your car.

On a side-note, QDing generally only removes newly-formed watermarks. If light to medium towel pressure with a QD doesn't get rid of the water-mark, then you will have to remove it using vinegar or clay. If that doesn't remove it, then it's time to use an abrasive cleaner.

Ok, thats what I was figuring, but I did not want to cause more problems by cutting corners than I was solving. I will only QD if the car is relitevly clean.

Bill,
You only have January thru July. Where are the rest? I think that sexy car makes up for the lack of sexy girls:thumbup:

Late September of '05 when I got the car. Sorry not much foliage but the gloss on the car was striking! I'm in the process of getting it back to this appearance.

Hey Bill, if you like bring your CS down here to me and you don't have to lock it up for the winter. I promise to take care of it for you during the winter and send pictures of it's adventures here in Florida.............:Car smiley:

Haven't had time yet this year, but here are a couple from last year.

Nice... We may not be at peak color yet. We haven't had that many cold/cool nights. Maybe next week we can get some really bright shots like the one I did last year with my 2003! The color last year was spectacular.....

That is a drop dead gorgeous car Bill. And you keep it looking better than new. That car must be a real head turner. If in the first picture you had the car turned with the front into the sun right after the sun came up it would have been even better. Nothing like the light right after sunrise and just before sunset.

Here in central North Carolina we should be nearing the peak but trees have barely started to turn. We had a wet summer and then a hotter dry spell as of late so that may explain the delay. I should be seeing more leaves on the ground.
