I remember being about to see compound marring on the white Lincoln....

Yeah, as Bill D has pointed out, for some reason fluorescents sometimes work unusually well on white

... no substitute for halogens for correction, for me.

I can often prefer incandescent light over even the halogens (at least for final inspections), not that I'd like to be without either.

I use a little variety. 8 8ft T 10's over head. 1 3600 lumen LED w 4 Cree style bulbs on stand. 1200 w Halogen stand. 1 400 lumen wash w/mini platform. And 2 hang able 4 ft fluorescent (2bulb ea)

Not all at once but mix it up depending.

Fluorescent for peel and shrinkage. Halogen and led for scratches.

The stands

BTW those are two separate stands. Just put them together for pic.

Funny thing Charlie it's been dubbed "Lil Johnny 5" early on.

Working on "Frankenlight" an 8 arm ceiling retractable 16 LED. Once lights are set no need to have to move light stand around. Park markers will allow vehicle to be moved out for sun check and brought back in without reset. Degree indicators allow the settings to be logged for different vehicles for quick set up.

If the wife allows, it be motorized/servo controlled a simple program could make it automated.(another hobby of mine):)

Good grief I'm running amuck!:)

It will be a giant LED spider leading the way to correction bliss:)

I can say the LED's have allowed me to get to this without any prior sun inspection....

I did some upgrading to my garage this year. I had a polyaspartic floor laid (4X's stronger than Epoxy and UV resistant too!) as well as I had the walls and ceiling painted white with a washable paint. I kept the old lighting system which is very nice. I have 4 giant CFL's that are rated I believe at 6500 colour temp and are 105W. They are a foot long and 4" diameter. I have 2 above the garage door that are not visible in the pics I took. I would like to research replacing the T5's I have with LED inserts on the florescents. That would be my next upgrade if I do anything.

Richy - not sure you'll see this a few months later - but that looks an awful lot like a 1400 Suzuki Intruder with a National windshield in that garage!

I definitely need to amp up the lighting (lol pun) in my detail shop... we currently have 4 overhead lights, not sure of the style, and I have one dual 500w Halogen I use for correcting... the lighting SUCKS for doing interiors, I'm thinking head-lamps are probably the best for that..

I'd love to mount some florescent tubes on the walls, is that mostly just good for cleaning, not correction polishing?

Either way I need more light so probably will anyway... maybe invest in another dual halogen light stand for correcting...

I've been tempted to try and combine multiple lights onto one stand to reduce the footprint and more light is always better. Too bad the heat on halogen is horrible in the summer.
