Post your best detailing product recipe for Black paint

Mike does have it right. I agree with him and Zane. Nothing beats Souveran on black for wetness.

Thx Silver...Any comments on my previous post? just curious as I am going to order this stuff tonight so I can have it for the weekend :woot:

Menzerna IP - I have some water spots that I want to get rid of

Menzerna FPII

RMG - any issues with using this with Menzerna?

Sealant - Here I am not sure as I have never used one before. Thought on using a sealant with P21S

P21S

QD - Quikshine

Todd,

I would substitute Z-2 or Z-5 for P21S and do Z-8 for quick detailer. Zaino can be ordered at www.zainostore.com

Souveran works very well but is expensive. If you go carnauba Natty's Blue is a nice choice at a nice price but the Zaino has more durability than either. All look great with black.

Thanks Lee. I have the Zaino products already as I used to use them on my Silver cobra convertible. Is there a need for a sealant if I use the Souveran? I have never used a sealant before such as AJ or the FK so I am unclear as to when to an when not to use it. I am still searching the forums now to find an answer as well.

I've been really impressed by Scottwax's pics of Werkstatt products on black. Maybe not the deepest, but holy cow is it impressive.

Agreed. Insanely black and wet. I just wish it had more depth.

This is how it looked on my own car:

However, this is as deep as it has ever looked. Menzerna 106FF, Vanilla Moose, Carnauba Moose, Carnauba Jett and topped with Natty's Blue.

Thanks for helping me out; just wanting to try a different combo than I have used for the last 2yrs.

P21S doesn't have great depth on black but it is reflective. RMG is just fine after the Menzerna polishes. I'd follow with Werkstatt's Carnauba Jett. It leaves the paint very, very black. Seems pretty durable too, especially for a spray carnauba. Going strong at 9 weeks and 7 weeks on a pair of black Silverados, plus my customer with the Rolls likes it more than Souveran.

In addition, since it isn't solvent based, according to the Werkstatt website, it is a carnauba that truly layers if that is important to you. 2 coats for complete coverage will probably make you very happy.

HUGE fan of this combo on flat black:

Menzerna IP

Menzerna FP II

Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze

Souveran paste wax

Well just made up my mind and bought all of this stuff plus a few other things. It will be delivered next day so I can start on this Friday evening. Cannot wait to see how it turns out.

Is there a need for a sealant if I use the Souveran?

Some sealants can be used as a base for Souveran like AIO and AJ lines. You can do without but the durability won't be as high...AIO works very well in my personal experience.

Thanks Lee; I think I might give this a try since my car is still a daily driver at this point.

SSR or OC with cutting pad

OP with polishing pad

OP with finishing pad

RMG with finishing pad

Black Combo No.1

Opt Compound/hyper/polish if needed

z6 wipe down

zaino z2 pro

Black combo No.2

Opt compound/hyper/polish

Pink Moose (combo of VM and RMG)

EX-P or UPP, or Meg's 21 x 2

Natty's Blue x 2

both turn out super , super wet.. its just matters the customers preference..

for my own vehicle, i go the zaino route :D

Question, if you know, how is the Poor Boys EX as opposed to the EX-P, seeing as I have some EX right now and some Natty's Blue, how will the EX work underneath instead of the EX-P?

This is what http://www.properautocare.com/blacallfinpa.html says.........

The Holy Grail of car waxes would be a product that produces the same deep, liquid shimmer of the very best carnauba waxes without carnauba's limited durability and penchant for water spotting. Is BLACKFIRE All Finish Paint Protection that dream come true? No, but it's close............... Will it produce the same liquid shine as Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax? No, but it's close.................. Is it as easy to apply as Klasse All-In-One? No, but it's close.

I know it isn't the best for wet looks, but I have always loved Z5. Here is a pic from my old Mustang. I have more at home that I'll try to post tonight if possible.

Clay

Z2

Z5

Menzerna for sure

Clearkote VM, RMG & Yellow moose (love the last one)

Klasse SG x 5 coats, removal with a damp warm MF

P21s x 3
