post washing "sheeting" tip

We all know by now (thanks to the gurus on this board) that after washing to apply a water sheeting without the nozzle on the hose to facilitate drying. Here's a tip that may prove helpful to some. For me at least, it was a pain the "a" to walk back to the hose, shut off the water, remove the nozzle, turn the water back on and walk back to the car -- then the reverse process when done sheeting. I bought a little gizzmo at Lowes for $3.97 (the cheapest detail supply I ever bought) which is a small shut-off valve that attaches to the hose outlet and allows you to attach the nozzle to the other end. Now, when I'm done rinsing, I just shut off the valve and remove the nozzle to sheet (and obviously the reverse process). While this doesn't sound like a giant timesaver, it's a small convenience that works beautifully and saves trips back and forth to the main water valve. Also saves water pouring onto the drive way if I want to take a break or just the time it takes to get back and forth. Just a small tip contribution to all of those who halped sooooo much.

For those of you who dont want to shell out the $3.97, I find kinking the hose works also:) hehe I always wanted one of those shut off valves for when using my foamgun and wanting to switch...but alls I do is kink the hose - I'll have to look into this..alls I can ever find are the cheaply made ones that look like they are going to snap - :thx

I agree about kinking the hose. My problem with that is that sometime when I did this I let up on the kink and got soaked which isn't all bad if it's hot outside. BTW, Lowes had 2 different ones - one of plastic and one of zinc (thats the one that was $3.97 - a dollar more then the plastic).

If you use the" kink the hose" option... be sure to open the nozzle when you decide to reattach the nozzle ( I use the ultimate nozzle, which has a twist on/twist off shutoff) the water will go out of the open nozzle and not all over you!
