found pc 7424 at coastal tool for $109 is this a good deal? where should i look for pads at? im just starting out, i have my old beater i will be practicein on. do you recomend a new back plate or can i pick this up later

$109 sounds good. Some members have reported getting them for around $70 at their local Lowes, but it seems that those are VERY rare finds. I got mine with a set of pads for $180 at autogeek.com so it sounds good to me. Flexible backing plates are popular because they don't create hot spots with extra friction when you tilt them. It depends what kind of pads you are going to get. If you opt for the Edge system you won't need a backing plate, just the adapter that comes with the Edge package. Good places to look are autogeek.com

autopia's online store

detailcity.com

and tons of other online stores. Be sure to search autopia for discount codes when you order though. Happy polishing:waxing:

No luck finding any at Lowe's! I also checked out Coastal Tool and it is indeed a nice deal. All you need is a kit with pads and polishes. I've been thinking about getting the Poorboy's polish and wax kit in autogeek.net, has the SSR's i think 1 and 2.5, natty's blue, spray and gloss, spray and wipe, 3 pads I believe (I forgot what color), a bag of Wolfgang pad cleaner, microfibers. There's probably more in that kit, but it's a nice deal with a nice price and you save a lot with that kit!

i think i will try the edge dual action starter kit from autogeek to get started. i heard that 1z polish was easy to use for starters?
