Your favorite polisher now has a 16 gauge, 25 ft. power cord! Reach far and wide with the Porter Cable 7424 HD Plus. With a 25 ft. cord, the best dual action polisher just got better. The 16 gauge cord is 2 ½ times the length of the ordinary Porter Cable 7424’s cord. This is not a drop cord – it’s wired into the polisher to deliver maximum power and performance.

Thoughts?

sounds good, but I would instead want to try the Makita Da I read about here. Supposed to be more potent and can switch to a rotary setting.

One thing that really bugs me when using any polisher is the weight of the connectioon five feet beyond the PC and the tendency that the connection is much more prone to catch on anything. I usually tie my extension and PC cords in a lose "knot" so they don't separate which doesn't seem to help my above gripes. I replaced the cord in my PC once already with what was locally available as I was in a rush, but I will replace it next time with a longer cord such as the one on the PC AG is marketing. Swapping the cords out only took ten minutes.

Makita BO6040 "dual mode"

Of course, those of us in the Festool mafia will tell you to get the Rotex RO 150 E instead:

i have the makita and i'd be amazed if the festool was significantly better put together than the makita. i find the bo6040 very sturdy. in either case, i'm convinced these dual action "forced rotation" machines will do 95% of what a rotary and an orbital would do together. it's already an orbital on its own, but i think it's nearly as powerful as a rotary with much less risk of burn.

the other benefit i've found so far is that i can use the makita in more nooks and crannies that i would NEVER DARE put my rotary. like inside curves of bumpers and such.
