porter cable goes rotary

my porter cable just went to full rotary drive

with no random orbital action

it's generating tons of heat.



Has anyone else ever had this happen

Try spinning your backing plate..if it spins I have no Idea whats wrong...lol...if it does not or is very hard its the bearing and its a easy fix...you can get parts online..just google porter cable parts....

I'm not sure how that's exactly possible on the PC.. The center of the PC isn't really centered, so whatever you do, it should rotate in a somewhat "erratic" fashion.



On the other hand, you got a rotary now!

I'm also curious about that. The center of the PC doesn't spin by force, so I'm not sure what he means either.

I wish mine did that. LOL. A Mini-Rotary! It likely wouldn't have enough balls on low speeds though

sounds like something is off for sure...try taking it apart and diagnosing it....or buy another and keep that one for parts in case your next breaks on you again

mine has done that for quite a while. I have to compress the pad fully to keep it from having a rotation to it's orbit. It rotates about 1/3 as much as it orbits. I kind of like it. It destroys edge 2 k pads on speed six though.
