Porter Cable 7336

I just had a simple question. When i first opened my new 7336 and put the polishing pad that came with it on (not to use on my car, just to test) When i push a little bit on the side of the pad the whole thing has a slight movement to it, it is not coming from the pad though, its from the connect where you put the wrench on. It kind of slightly rocks back and forth.

Is this normal?

You can kind of hear it when you turn it on too...

Thanks,

It is a random orbit machine, which means that it spins off center. It will have a slight side to side movement by nature. It also makes a pretty good amount of noise.

Can any product be applied with a PC?...was thinking about purchasing one, but wasn't sure if I needed to buy new products to use with it.

Products that I use now are, SSR, AOI, Zaino, P21S.

Thanks

:)

Any of those products can be applied with the PC, but it's geared more towards polishes, paint cleaners, etc.

Awesome i was a little worried about that.

I was also wondering (may sound stupid) if the white pad that came with the 7336 would be okay to apply wax with. I don't have any pads right now and I'm so damn anxious to use this baby.

If it could possibly harm it I will definately hold off. I was just wondering.

I'd wait if you can, or at least if you are dying to just *do something* then play on your household appliances until your real pads come in. :) We've heard all kinds of horror stories about that stock pad, aside from the fact that it is a polishing pad and not a finishing pad so it will leave a *little* bit of marring or at least a not so perfect finish, so you will be defeating the purpose.

I don't know if you already have pads on the way or what but Autopia has a 40% off garage sale going on, and I noticed that they have the Lake Country DA pads included in the sale. I don't consider these *the best* but they will definitely be a start if you are on a budget. At 40% off, you can't beat them, even if they are just backup pads.

Well I think I am buying from Excel Detail because I can use money order and because I'm 17 I have no other form of payment. (Thanks a.k.a. Patrick!)

Just courious as to what people on the board use for a polish with the PC? Also I have a black car. if that influences the recommendation

I wouldnt waste your time with gold class. Doesnt last long at all. Harder to apply and remove. Covers up light light swirls, not much clarity. But it does a good job at making the paint seem uniform and finished.

NXT on top of gold class should look nice though.
