Anybody out there know the official spec for Porsche paint thickness?. I only ask as yesterday I arrived at a customers to take paint depth readings prior to full paint correction, the car in question an 07 997 Turbo in met black. The front wings and hood (bonnet) had been re sprayed by the dealer to remove some stone chips so the 7 thou to 10 thou results did not surprise me. However the doors, which by the way are alluminium showed results of only 3 thou to 4 thou, with the roof and rear arches not much better at 4 to 5 thou.
I detailed her last car a Caymen S which had readings of 6 to 8 thou all over?.
Surely even if the car has been machined polished before, 1 to 2 thou would not have been removed?
