Porsche Design Special Edition Cayman- Detail by seech and KC

So here's what I did :)

I washed my car with my favorite stuff Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo. Today I used the foaming pump dispenser with a wash mitt. For those of you who haven't tried the foaming pump, it really minimizes the amount of car shampoo used and it created nothing but white creamy suds.

Then I applied Soveran for the first time. So smooth, so shiny, I actually startled myself cause of the reflection haha :D

I am going to do a normal washing on the Maxima today using....



Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo

EF HI for the wheels and tires

Chenille wash mitt for the body

Old mitt for the wheels

Viking tire brush

California Water Blade



Then vacuum the interior with my shop vac, clean the dash and associated vinyl with my diluted HI and clean the glass with my concoction of 20/20 and alcohol as well as stoner's.



I might put 2 more coats of KSG on the Maxima for good measure.



After that, I am going to watch my video tape of the Bears-Packers Game and the Simpsons. :D
 
just finishes with the Z6/Z2(with chrome) after all that washing yesterday(and Z1/Z5 ...filled in the little annoying stuff i had on my bumper sill)....all the windows came out really nice yesterday with ISA/Viper MT/flannel...except the area around the brake light...even though i took it off...so i have to hit that again later today....did a quikie on the engine today before the Z...its so much easier to keep that sucker looking good if you dont let it go too long....same with all the car i guess....now off to mommas to hear all the gossip/eat.....:D ......



hey Prinz....tell me about using HI on the dash....even diluted...when did u start with that...and why....

YO STEVE - nice pic! How did you like souveran as a KLASSE topper? Are your windows tinted? What $!?



I actually was busy this weekend, but had an hour to kill on Sunday to wash my BMW. I Z7 washed it and used Z6 spray detailer on the entire car and windows. I used turtle wax tire gel on the tires, and 303 on all the BLACK TRIM (currently testing durability on trim between 303 and zaino Z16 - I like them both). I vacuumed the interior, wiped down the mats with a damp/Z16'ed rag, and went over the entire interior and dash with a damp MF towel for a quick dusting. Looks great! I gotta get a digital camera one of these days.
 
come on DK, just get one :) i'm actually digicam shopping (again!) and will get one soon. maybe i'll only take car pics with it and write it off :D



that pic came out suprisingly nice. and yes I loved the soveran. I don't care much for carnuba dust but that stuff rocks. Like I said it kinda startled me to see myself in the hood, by far the most difficult part of my car to get a shine one (because it's so flat and silver doesn't reflect much without curves) I believe a lot of it was the Klasse just curing on the paint for a week and then added the Souveran just made it like water. I was riding in another car for lunch today and since I park in the very back in the center aisle we drove around my car, and it looks so shiny, like a commercial :) I'm going to try to get onto VW Driver mag or something one of these days.



The window tint on my car haha, is only on the 2 rear windows, in that pic it looks like I have a silver tint on the window (wish I did!) but it's just rear. The funny thing is that tint is bought from home shopping (QVC.com ;) ) and it's the kind that you put on by hand with water :) Here in the winter in Ohio it's not sunny much so I just pull off the tint and put it back on in the summer :D it's more like window decals then window tint so you get the idea.

I just want a decent Digi cam now for mainly internet photos. I don't have a photo quality printer and can't see myself using it for prints, so I have no need for a super high res camera. For around 300-400 bucks I saw an Olympus 510, that has 2.1 MP, decent zoom, and a USB. What are you leaning towards?



Let me know how long the souveran lasts. Did it add slickness?
 
I just ordered the Souveran Kit and I am looking forward to trying it out. Steve, how well do you anticipate Souveran to look on a silver car since it is intended more for darker colors?

I recently picked up the Oly 2040Z. I bought mine for $450 at a local Circuit City; it can probably be had cheaper online, or in a more competitive market . . . Omaha's not quite the hotbed of technological early adopters that you might think :rolleyes:. It's a 2 megapixel 40-120mm zoom, with a very fast lens (1.8). I've been pretty happy with it overall (my first digicam, but I used to play with photography as a hobby back in the early '80s). It has enough advanced features to allow pretty much any composition you want, but the point-n-shoot yields decent results when you don't want to (or can't) take the time to futz with settings.

Here's a link to a thread I posted a while back that had before/after pictures of a black Ford pickup that I worked on. The pics in the thread were all taken with the 2040 at highest resolution/medium compression (1600x1200 .jpg), then reduced using Paint Shop Pro 7 to the size you see. No other enhancements were done on the photos.

Below are a couple of links you may find useful . . . the first is one of the better digicam review sites I've found, and the second is an enthusiast's site with a lot of info on digital photography in general, but with an emphasis on the Olyumpus cameras.

That comes as a bit of a surprise. What brand exactly is it? Any problems with browning, etc?

Z16 and Turtle wax tire gel on the tires.



Turtle wax (formula 2001) tire gel comes in a green bottle (just like finish 2001 wax does).



It goes on very easy. I let it dry for about 5-10 minutes, and then wipe again with a towel. It is not greasy and does not sling onto the car. It has pretty good durability too (lasts through multiple rain storms, but I do apply it every time I wash the car each week). It also has a very high gloss shine. Z16 lasts longer, but I prefer a higher gloss on my tires.



UPDATE: I am not sure that it is being sold anymore. I can't find it anymore at pep boys, and at a similar auto store it was in the discount bin. I picked up the last 3 bottles of it that they had. Perhaps I will go on turtle wax's web site and see if it is still on the market..........

Well, it seems to be that detailing is a good part prep work. The better your car looks before you wax it the better it'll look after you wax it. I had 5 coats of Klasse over 7 days on my car that cured on it for over two weeks. After I put the Soveran it really, "popped" but probably only one of us would notice the difference. I keep telling my dad, hey look at it now and he's like it looks as shiny as it always is! I'm like noway dad, this is seven days of detailing not to mention all the other stuff and $80 wax. He's like oh, okay :D

Guess it depends. Since it you ordered it, prep the paint try it out and tell us (and show us :) ) what you get.

BTW, TheKingOfDETAIL? how's that for originality :) there's no YoJohns, or YoBob's out there ;) there's a YoPlait.com thought :D

I started doing that after I gave my bottle of Meguiar's #40 to a friend of mine. One thing I noticed with #40 was that it was not cleaning as deeply as I would like.

Initially, I used HI full strength and found I could get the results I wanted by diluting it. I might have to dilute it a little more to see how well it cleans at that point.

As far as treating my dash, I have been using vinylex but I plan to switch to 303. :D

I just wish I could afford the Canon EOS D30 or the new EOS D1 digital SLRs. Currently, I have a Canon SLR and would love to get a digital camera where I can use the EOS lenses and my Sunpak 266 flash. :D

Thanks. The products work well and are really easy to use. Love the Opti-Seal and Optimum Car Wax. Makes things too easy.... :smile:
