I think the 918 represents what we'll see from super-cars in the future: gasoline + electric motors.
IIRC, the 918 has a 500hp gas engine and a 200hp electric motor mounted on each axle yielding a total of 900 hp
I believe the car was reviewed on Top Gear Season 22, Episode 5 by Richard H. Going to try to catch the show tonight to freshen up my memory on all of this

Yeah, that looks like the hot ticket right now. There were probably ten of them at the show. I didn't realize they were already available in the USA...
