Havn't posted here much in a long time... and while I don't have a great write-up for this one I figure'd I'd share some pictures of my own personal car that I finally got around to spending some much needed time on a couple weeks ago. I easily logged >1000 track miles this summer and it was really starting to be evident. Since I'm done tracking it for the year I figured I'd clean it back up for street duty.



No befores...it wasn't horrible but it needed some love.



Process:

Wash

Clay

Zaino ZAIO on wheels

Polish: Megs 105 and purple foam wool on a couple of trouble spots

Polish with Menzerna SIP on white polishing pad @ 1500rpm

Polish with Menzerna PO85RD with gray pad for finishing

Polish with Menzerna PO85RD on blue pad (Playing around with jeweling / burhishing)

2 coats of Pinnacle Souveran paste wax



All done...No Sun!!!

Very nice. Good to see someone using a car like that for its intended purpose. Were you tracking it at Mid Ohio?

Mid Ohio, Nelson Ledges, Putnam Park and Beaver Run were the only tracks I made it to this year. Hopefully I'll get back to Watkins Glen and VIR next year.
 
I wonder if you know one of my clients. He's at Beaver Run all the time and his son is as well. Modified Boxster S convertible, Lotus Exige and a couple of other cars.
 
Soooooo clean! I have been debating about tracking my corvette and I really want to but here in Missouri hard to find places. Maybe Heartland park for me.
 
Looks great. I would have loved to have seen some before pictures because that's a crazy aggressive combo you used. The paint must have been butchered.

Actually it wasn't that bad. I only used the M105 and PFW for spot fixes where I had collected rubber flying off of other cars that marred the surface. For the most part it only needed SIP on a white pad for correction.
 
very nice result (and car). i wish that i could bring myself to track my C6. i even ordered this one with the F55 suspension (switch adjustable magnetic slective ride dampers - the same system that ferrari licensed from delfi/GM a couple of years ago and now offer on some models). someday. have fun at the track!
 
Zaino ZAIO is zaino all in one? I didn't see it on the abreviation list.. Anyway, why do I see so many people use it on the wheels instead of normal car wash? I wash my wheels on my BMW 135i (which is prone to pretty bad brake dust) and it seems to wash everything off fine? Is the ZAIO a wash/wax combo solution or something?

Very nice work and product choice for polish. I love the way Menzerna works out on a finish. Now, I'm trying Zaino ZPC for finish polishing as well seeing that it does some very good work as well and since I sue Zaino, I can go straight to it w/o re-washing due to the light oils in P085RD.



The other Menzerna polish you don't see is the 106FA. Plus, there are more formulas coming out.



Nice looking 996 with lowering springs. Tracking it now must be a blast with it lowered. I'm going to do same soon on my 97 C2S, but may go the the PSS10 shocks to keep PASM.



I just switched to Bridgestone RE050A's from the P Zeros. Very nice tires!! And a whole lot cheaper than PS/2's.



Great work on the 996 and enjoy the time before winter!!!!

Z AIO (All In One) kind on the same properties of Klasse, only better.



Any sealant on the wheels will help with getting brake dust off. Wax cannot take the heat from braking. At least with a sealant, the washing off of the dust is much easier. Lucky for me, I don't have to worry since I have Porsche Ceramic's on this car. No dusting!!:2thumbs:

Thanks Deanski. The car is an absolute blast at the track. Virtually all of the suspension components have been upgraded to GT3 or Cup Car units. The only thing I'm left wanting now is more power as my car is an early 3.4L, 295 hp car. Still a hoot to drive though!.

Nothing wrong with GT3 and or Cup additions on the suspension, see more do it all the time with outstanding results.



As for more power, there's always a GT3 motor!:woot2: There are several firms that can extract more power from the 3.4. Some are easy some are more radical.



Lucky for me, I'm very close to FarnbacherLoles which is one of the best Porsche racing/modification firms on the same line as say Flying Lizard Motorsport Group. The one up here is mostly street work since they moved the full race team down south.



As you know, the paint on these cars is damn soft. Although it's easy to correct, it's also easy to get marring. I'm glad to see you used Menzerna as it's been the best so far I've found for this paint. With more formulations in the works, like PO203S which is between SIP and 106, not as much cut as SIP, but a bit more cut than 106. So, it now may be PO203S, then PO85RD for a paired match.



Since I use Zaino (flame suit now on) more users have found that ZPC corrects very well with the right pads and technique. It also finishes really well. So for me, to have something do mild correction to final finishing w/o wiping down the finish prior to Zaino sealant would be a benefit for me. Then again, I really like 85RD when used with a fine pad to really jewel up a finish to such a high gloss.



I hope you also add some paint film on it for the track. Mine saved my hood when a mudflap or other plastic part came sailing across the hood. It hit the film and no damage to the finish. They now have the peel-off film for the windshield like the same used in ALMS.



When you get ready for winter, I hope you go over it fully. I get it on the lift and do a full top to bottom detail and treatment on all rubber, plastic, metal, paint etc. I then inflate the tires up to 60Lbs (as they do when shipping from factory) and use Tire Cradles. One day, I'll invest in a very cheap set of wheels and tires just to store the car so I can remove my good ones and store those off the car. Never would I keep it on stands or the lift as this can unload the suspension in a bad way, plus expose shock shafts to rust. Sure, you can unload it to a degree which is good, but full off is the worst thing to do.



Since they repaved Lime Rock, it's totally different. Now, we can really push the cars to the limit. And with PCCB's on my C2S, they come in really handy! After one season, I flush the brake fluid and refill with SRF. Makes a big difference. SRF is one great fluid!



After reading about the GT2 I'd love to get one of those, but that would require a Powerball win. Still, it's one sick car. I'll even take a GT3RS if possible!!:woot2:
