This week I have this beauty to detail. since the car is here for a whole week (or more if we need it), we can do the best we can on it. The block on the pictures is Johan who will be my partner in detailing this.

As you can see its a Porsche 911 s4. It had not been used for a couple of months, so the owner asked us to do the best we can.

Let's crack it on:D

I always start by spraying the wheel arches with some APC 1:4, and HD rinse it after some minutes

That done we start on the rims. Unfortunately the rims are not in a good shape, the inner coating is failing on some parts, for example on the places where the balancing weights have been.

Spraying some WB to the wheel

let it work in for a short time, and use some wheel brushes to clean the inside, which leaves this:

After HD rinsing?

Same for the front-left one

Before going to the washing stage we make sure all door, hood, and trunk trims are clean. Sprayed with APC and worked around it with multible "kwasten" (don't know the word, im sorry:$)

That done we can start having some fun:D. I made a short movie of me snowfoaming the car:

A second foam (Johan wanted to foam it 2, why not:P)

After that we washed the car with the 2-bucket system, and dried it with a water magnet

Time to get the car in. While Johan was claying the car I started on the exhaust tips. What a work, this tip cost me 45 minutes and i still dont think it's 100 percent:(

Tried some APC which didnt seem to help:(

This handy thing did the trick better

90% clean at this stage, so i added some NXT polish to see how it would look:

One to go...

This evening a had a look. Johan had done some machine polishing on the left side of the car. The paint isn't 2 bad, just some little swirling and random RDS.

Before:

After 2 passes of M83 on a W8006 which didnt seem to do much and 1 pass of M83 on a W7006 (by G220) it looked like this (note that the tape i used at te before picture left some residu that can be seen on the pic below. The second one is after making sure all of it was gone)

And some of the Left side (1 pass M83 + w8006 following by 1 pass M80 + W8006)

One question: What would you guys do about the stone chip protection which can be soon on the 4th picture?

Looks brilliant!

After I had to part ways with my 996 I vowed that I would get a 993 Turbo or 4S. This thread definitely reaffirms the desire to get one! You gotta love how wide that back end is!

Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful work on a gorgeous car! It was looking pretty neglected, sad to see a real 911 in that state. Felt good reading the thread and seeing the transformation, so it must've felt REALLY good actually doing the work. Very nice.

For the stone guards in front of the rear wheels, I will generally use Qtips to remove wax/polish residue from the outline and then polish the actual plastic guard with PLEXUS.

That or most any plastic polish should work.

Nice work!

Awesome write up. And the car looks great, fantastic job on the exhaust. Did you stay with the coarser than 0000 wool with NXT or just MF and NXT

Call me old fashion...but I always love to see a detail done with some classic Meg's standby's.

Beautiful detail. :2thumbs:

Body looks great..........Things get tuff when people don't take care of them . The only thing I may have done different is ........take those wheels off to clean if the money is in it. Porsche brakes tend to get some funky deposits that stick to the rims, very hard to remove unless you take the wheels off. And I'm not sure about rubbing the black out of the tailpipes, may have re-painted them inside with satin black.......I believe they are black from the factory? Iv'e owned a few porsches over the last 18 years...great cars. I still have one of them. Someday i'll post a picture. :idea I'm by no means telling you I'm a better detailer then you, I just saw a few little things. I believe comments when taken the right way make each one of us better at what we do......:goodjob
