Popular products that didn't work out for you

NXT Liquid & Paste versions..--- Did not care for any aspect of this wax.



S1000..looks ok, easy apply/remove, but no more durability than a QD...



Mothers FX Tire Shine..--- bottle sprays like crap, one of the few products that turned my tires brown.



Menzerna IP- slings more dust than a cyclone...



NXT Spray Detailer...junk ( As a matter of a fact the whole NXT line has nothing for me..)



NTS7 Auto Shampoo ...really it's the German version of Dawn....





Eimann Fabrik Waterless Auto Wash & Gloss Sealant.-- overpriced, nothing special



Dragon Fibre Magic Towel-- works ok, nice feel, but overpriced, alot better brands/deals out there...

I don't use my DFTs/CBTs all that much but I'm surprised yours wasn't absorbent :think: Did you wash it first and/or try it after washing? Mine absorbs QDs quite well, more effective than the adsorbtion of a regular MF that's for sure. One of the few things I *do* use them for regularly is post-wash QDing, and I choose them just for this characteristic :nixweiss



If you wanted to bother, I think DFTowel/Leo might want to address any dissatisfaction with his product and would try to be helpful.
 
Speaking of DP, can't say I had the best results with their Krystal Vision Glass Cleaner. That's the only DP product I've tried. And the bottle's one of the worst--when flat, it leaks all over the place.
 
CG EZ Glaze: muted metalic pop more then say RMG and darken my paint too much.



Megs. Gold Class (liquid): There are just better products around the same money.
 
Nanowax - hard to remove and didnt shine at all.Sucked big time. I tried to return it to the manufacturer with receipt but got no response . I guess their 100% satisfaction garuntee is just words.



Megs NXT - Love the shine but only lasted a week. I have had decent results topping it with Collinite 845.



Megs 3-step system - As a previous poster said I wore my arm out



Zaino stuff - Overpriceed and application regime is to strict as I dont have a garage to let the stuff "cure" till the next application.



303 protectant - overpriced and overhyped . I use Michelin tire protectant on my tires and my interior and like it.
 
Fk1 2180 - Decent look, average slickness. Not worth the money

Zaino Z2 - Same as above.

Menzerna FMJ - Poor durability and very expensive, but the slickness and look is awsome.
 
OK, great advise here, I have tried Zaino Z5 to remove swirls and scratches(3-coats) after claying car. I only have an orbital, but the swirls and scrtaches are still there. Anybody recommend any other product for orbital or by hand. Black Hyundai. Thanks.

Zaino's a sealant so it won't really remove any swirls or scratches. I recommend you try reading the Autopia Free guide to detailing first to give you a general idea of what you'll have to do to remove the swirls.
 
Zaino- too expensive, makes car look like patent leather, obnoxious to use

XMT polishes- work ok, XMT1 is worthless, has no cut at all, dust too much and they are a little pricey

PB SS&S- I'll stick with my #901 for half the price

DP wheel glaze- did nothing for look and they say to apply weekly?? Zaino is now relegated to wheel sealant

P21S- looks real nice, but no durability

Dimondite glass cleaner- worthless, no cleaning power, streaks like crazy, good thing I got it free

Pinnacle clay lube- it's clay lube, not worth the price

Megs #7- worst product ever
 
I'll just reiterate a few previously mentioned products...



NXT paste - looked great on white for me, but didn't last at all.



Optimum polish and optimum compound - worked way too slowly on my Audi paint with a PC. I can honestly estimate that it would take 40 hours to polish out my car with these products and a PC. I couldn't be sure though because I wasn't able to achieve complete swirl removal in even a very very small area. This was by far my most disappointing experience with detailing. I think I'm going to try Menzerna polishes as they're supposedly formulated for harder clears.



Stoner's Invisible Glass - It works, but whats the big deal? I get pretty much the same results with quick detail or water and a clean microfiber.



Klasse AIO on my windshield - I love KAIO, but using it on my windshield made all of the little pits or chips sparkle so they were much more noticeable.

Try again using less product, I find Optimum polishes have noticably more cut when you only use a few pea sized drops per section.



Honestly, with any product on an Audi, it will be slow go with a PC, even with a Cyclo it takes me a good 4-5 hours to polish out an S4 with light to moderate defects.
 
I tried using a tiny bit of product, and a medium amount... it really just wasn't doing the trick. I don't want to derail this thread though. I think its probably a great product that just isn't meant for my paint. The long working time is probably a blessing for many situations, but for me with my white car, cool weather, and hard clear its not great.
 
Let me add one more to my list..... Turtle Wax Clear vue glass cleaner.

Streaks like crazy...... don't use it on the car glass or you will get frustrated. On the other hand, it kicks the living cr@p out of windex for household duties...... but any automotive glass cleaner will murder the houselhold glass cleaners.....

i was gonna say op too but in light of scotts suggestion ill consider it my bad so far, i use a little more than a few pea sized drops do ill lighten up.



i always grab something like fp2 or xmt 2 instead of the op.
 
Scratch-X or Nu Finish? Which one does everyone feel is the best for doing swirls, scratches by hand, or recommend something better. thanks
 
just bought this last night (i'm a sucker for mf towels, and washes :) ) and tried it today, and wasn't impressed. it lacked in suds and i found the lubricity wasn't all that great, and not to mention it was $6.99. suprisingly, i thought this would be a good product, since i love the AA tire foam and tire gel. oh well...

In total, this thread reminds me why I try to pick my products carefully.



Most all products are ok for me; but some I really don't care for and/or consider useless:



Mother's:

Showtime QD (basically cherry water)

Back to Black (thin, no durability, streaks if wetted, must reapply after every wash, not that effective either)





Meg's:

Deep Crystal wash (cheap and foamy but no cleaning ability or lubricity)

NXT Liquid (we all know the story)

Quick Wax (FK425 is better/easier)

Quick Detailer (might as well be water)

Gold Class wax (hard to get thin, ok looks, no durability, dusty)

Gold Class Rich Leather Wipes (friend had them, pretty much useless)

Endurance Gel (gets gunky, hard to apply and takes forever to do so)



FK1- FK100 (Finicky if surface is warm; leaves hard to remove haze)..but it does make metallics pop nicely...



Poorboy's: EXP (only ok on silver/light metallics; lacks depth and durability)



Folex (Spot Shot or Woolite work tons better)
