I have only used PBs Wheel sealant, an I love it!! It lasts a very long time, I have an on going test on my mothers car. I think the current application (3 coats) has been on for 4months. The front disc brakes get dirty, but the first rain (or splash of water) they look brand new, the rears are drums and always look brand new.
My understanding a wheel sealant will hold/last longer than a wax. However Powdercoat is a very durable long lasting finish, so you should be fine with either, just don't wait to long between applications, some wheels can be expensive!!
