Poorboys Super Slick & Suds: A Review

SilverLexus

Super Enthusiast
I wrote an earlier review on this product which I had mixed feelings about. I decided to try it again and see where it went...I am impressed and I know what happened earlier...I used too little soap.

I use about an ounce for my 2.5 gallon bucket today and I got very nice suds but they are gentle in a good way. It is very, very lubricious so the water sheets off nicely when I cut back on the water volum at the end. Here's my take:

Cleaning: B+, gentle but does clean nicely
Slickness: A+, very slick
Finish: A, very clean clear finish and my recent carnauba job felt smooth and slick.
Scent: A, Very nice as all PB products tend to be, something like a sweet candy.
Value: A, Very good considering the volume and price and how far an ounce goes. Don't skimp though or you may find less sudsing as I did in my earlier review. Likewise don't use too much. I found an ounce to 1.5 works well.

Highly Recommended. :)

It's still my top wash, but I think a measuring system would be optimal for this soap. I find usually using too much which dials up the cleaning ability. I'll post pics once Patrick gets my new bottles to me.

I love the product has worked on all cars that I have cleaned......

Question I have is A-Spec why don't you think that its good for heavy cleaning?

Very good review. I use a 1/2 of an ounce and I have no complaints.

Yep, me too. Otherwise my surface seems to loose it's slickness.

I agree with all of SilverLexus' grades of the product.

define what a oz is. Do you actually measure it out with the top or what. I am looking to try some when my nxt go away.
You can measure with a bartender's "shot" glass.
Or use a smaller bottle for your products and mark ounces on the outside - I use a 4 oz. travel bottle & have it marked into quarters. Works great for me:)

Good idea, although I'd probably take a shot of SS&S by mistake. Anyway...

I have a bunch of those tiny measuring cups that come with cough syrup and use them. They are in mm not ounces, but 2 @ 2/3 of the cup is about 1 ounce.

That's a great idea, too!! :)

Is SSSS&SS sudsy? My biggest complaint with Meg's crystal wash is the lack of suds when you follow directions.

I have to agree that its pretty good I have been using it on the nicer cars and im pleased with the whole thing good suds and lubricates well .

I love the stuff. Does a great job.

I use a 2 gallon bucket and usually let about 3-5 seconds of "squeeze" into the water and then suds it up with the hose. I'd say by the amount I have left that I don't use the recommended amount for that quantity of water -- I probably use a bit less.

I wonder if Poorboy can comment if using alot more per gallon or alot less per gallon affects the cleaning ability or results in residue staying on the car. I don't mean 4 ounces in a 2 gallon bucket, or 4 tablespoons in a 5 gallon bucket at the other extreme. But a bit more or a bit less of the stuff than the pro-rata amount it says to use on the label.

I use about an ounce for 3-4 gallons in a 5 gallon bucket
Too much product will slow down the free rinsing attribute, but will add more lubrication during the wash, especially for a very dirt car...too little...I'm not sure, since I would never try and skimp:)

Thanks Steve. I actually realized my bucket is 3 or 4 gallons of water so I seem to be roughly on target now. I just ordered some more. :)

Thanks, Poorboy....it is the best car wash I've tried. I really like the cleansing action.

Any thought to adding fragrance? With the orange color, I keep thinking about some orange-flavored shampoo I read about on another site a while back. Although while it might be nice to have a sweet-smelling suds to clean with, not sure I'd want the smell to stay on the car after it's rinsed off.
