Poorboys:Rotary or PC

Are the swirl removers more geared towards being used with the pc or the rotary? I know this has probably been asked before but I can't find the information with the search function.(To many posts regarding Poorboys-That's a good thing) It seems that the products dry to quickly with the rotary. I dampen the pads with my quick detail spray before I start, and this helps a little, but not alot. Is there a trick I should know when using the rotary? Thanks!!

Hey Mark,

Most products are totally different when used with the rotary. Your absolutely right, "most" will tend to set faster because the rotary produces heat. If you see your pad (foam) caking up product, take a nylon bristle brush and run that across the surface, reload with QD/Water and product, and then go back to it.

My suggestion would be to work on smaller areas at a time. You might reload on product more, but the results will be better in the end. :bigups

Good luck my friend, and practice, practice, practice!!

Thanks Nick! I've never had much of a problem with other compounds, but Poorboys with a rotary is a little different. I'll take your advice and practice more. Take care!

In my experience using Poorboys SSRs, I have better success using them with the PC.
Don't get me wrong they are great products (some of the best)
They work on the rotary and maybe I need to change my technique to get them to work better. Personally I can get quicker and better results on the rotary using Meguiars #83 DACP followed by #82 SFP. However, I can get quicker and better results on the PC using SSR2 or 2.5 followed by SSR1.
I think if I could find the proper lubricating spray to use with Poorboys on the rotary, the results would be the same.
A couple things that seem to help using SSRs on the rotary compared to other products is to slow the speed down slightly, work in smaller areas and as Nick said keep the pad clean of excess product.

ok the best way to use SSR's with a rotary....DO NOT prime the pad with water or QD's ...they will make SSR's dry faster, become more aggressive and not be as effective...by adding water to the SSR's you are making the solvents dry up that are there for lubrication...also remember to shake the SSR's well before using....

use the SSR that you are using to prime the pad...put enough on and spread it in with your fingers until the pad is primed...then you will need less product during the actual process...check pad periodically to make sure it has not dried out and repeat if needed.

hope this helps:D

with wool you would have to use a little more product for compensation of it not having the ability to stay damp....
