Poorboys Polishes or is it Memorex?

I understand disagreements. there's nothing wrong with that. I honestly feel that this whole situation was brought up unecissarily, or at least by an inappropriate party (one with a vested interest in people not buying from other companies.) That's my problem with it. I don't think BurlyQ was hiding intentions, but I do feel like he has sort of an axe to grind with certain online vendors. Just my .02. I guess I will go back to wherever it is I have been for the past several months. :)

If I were to go shopping for clothes, I could go get an Old Navy polo shirt for about $19.50, or I could get a Ralph Lauren one for $65, but I choose the Old Navy one because it looks the same (with exception of the logo), feels the same, and will most likely last just as long (not to mention most people could care less what brand you wear).

Don't ever pay those prices!! Definitely be a smart shopper and shop around!! Sorry for getting OT :o

Can someone tell me if the Poorboy's line is the same as (rebottled) Chemical Guys products? I often detail in the sun and I like the way Poorboy's works. I do, however, use enough of it often enough to save a lot of $$$ if I can get the same results from Chemical Guys.

Anyone know for sure?

I would like to know how many people questioning PB's formula actually detail full time? If you only do a few cars here and there, why would you want gallon size containers that will probably go bad before you could use it all. The professionals go through products much, much faster than the enthusiusts and that's why they buy from the big boys who sell in volume.

Well, I detail 2-3 cars per month, for friends/family club members. I also wash and do quick waxes for my GF and her friends. So yes, I work on a lot of cars. I go through as much products as a professional does.

The point I was making is that NO ONE has bother to back up their assumptions and innuendos with facts or even comparsion testing.

I don't recall anyone here who is saying that the products you can get in bulk ARE the same. Many have commented that it LOOKS similar.

I will be doing some testing as soon as the package gets back to me from RedondoV6. I'm no pro, but I use/used products from almost every manufacturer on mentioned here on this forum. So yes, i have an idea of how products work.

OK, call me crazy, but aren't you doing the exact same thing you were calling out in this thread? Who exactly has a vested interest in people not buying from other companies? BurlyQ? That's certainly news to me. He also has an axe to grind with certain online vendors?

Is this what you call being tactful, let alone having good taste?

Jason,

The Bottom line is: WE DON'T KNOW. As soon as i get my hands on some samples, i'll be reporting back my findings.

I was rephrasing the original question in a way that perhaps would not have incurred the wrath of some of the posters... although, frankly reading through them, I'm not sure that was possible.

It's interesting to note how the posters who are the most antagonistic and filled with bile tend to be the least articulate. A couple of these posts I had to read twice and fill in the blanks to understand.

303 looks like AA looks like Sonus looks like Z16.

Shokcar looks like SG looks like 1Z Glanz wax.

Looks can be very deceiving.

I think everyone understands my "general principle" statement about my intepretation of this thread and it "LOOKS" fishy to me. JMHO

No hard feelings to anyone, not pointing fingers or intend to disrupt the harmony of this forum. :wavey

Jason,

Sorry I could not proof read all of my responses. While you are juggling which #2 pencil to use for the SAT's or the proper adverb, I am analysizing important patient info. My patients come first and the knowledge to care for them will never take a back seat to a principle statement and responses to such. I normally proof read and like many make some grammical errors even so.

Nevertheless, you obviously got my point and when you develop a little more insight into life and the many curves balls that will be pitched your way, you may start to understand the meaning of - Principles. :xyxthumbs

Wow, WHAT are you talking about? Please tell me you're not a shrink.

Boy has this topic taken a turn. Can someone please verify that at least 5 different Cherry Wet Waxes out there are not the same? I would appreciate that. I assume they must all be EXACTLY the same and bottled by one vendor because they are all in gallons, they are all pinkish colored, they are all cherry scented and they are all waxes.

Suggestion:

The person testing the products should do it blindly. Have someone else relabel poorboy's ssr and the generic polish as X, Y, and Z, etc. Only after the tester has come to his/her conclusions should the identity of the products be revealed to the tester.

You know some guys who I won't mention here is getting uptight for no reason. As far as if any product are relabled product I really think many are just that. See there might be some improvements like one cherry wax may have add a bit more carnuba or something like that than another, but they are more or less the same. Polishes in my opinon does not matter that much as whats most improtant to their formula is the content is the amount of abrassives in them and how well they break down. I'm sure many polishes out their are bulk product with an added chemical cleaner, polishing oil, ect.. that makes it slightly different than the other. Is Poorboys the same as another? Could be, buit who care if it works for you then stick with it. IMO buying in bulk gallon is only worth it if you detail for money. If Chemical Guys is the same it would not matter to me because it already takes me 2 years to use a 16 or 32 ounce bottle of polish. I don't want stuff laying around for 10 years. I think the Chemical guy stuff will work fine for the professional detailer, and probably very close to the effectiveness of Poor Boys. I use 1Z, Meguiars and alway get the small bottle because I don't use it enough.

Gee if you like Meguiars then get it, Ziano then get it, Poorboy get it , its your car and put on the stuff you like. I personally think that the orginal poster had a legitimate question is some stuff repackaged other stuff. It might be, so does that really hurt your feelings? Come on its just products.

Even a blind test won't prove anything. The products may perform the same or similar but could be two different formulations. The bottom line is, if you're satisfied with the results of a vendors product and comfortable with the price, then by all means that should be what you should use. Unless someone can come up with proof that that the formulas are completely identical, then this whole topic is pointless. Purchase what you feel does the job at a price you are comfortable at paying.

My sentiments exactly. It's all about choices. :2thumbs:

This is car wax, not some Government conspiracy. :LOLOL
