Although my friend Jr. Detailer Woman and I seem to have escaped the pictures :dance , it was nice renewing some old aquaintances and making some new ones....although this was really more of a DC event...and we showed up late...I somehow won the freebie drawing :o (Thank you, Scott at SMP!)

This was a nice low-key event, followed by a nice all-you-could-eat Chinese buffet, and <ah-hem> apparently a lot of beer back at the hotel! Thanks to Steve (Poorboy) and Marj for providing the opportunity to meet up with some fellow Autopians, sample all the Poorboy's products, and get some polishing words of wisdom, war stories, and some business insight from Steve.

As far as I know, there were no heat-related deaths or injuries :grinno: ...but it was pretty brutal out there! :buffing: Other topics of interest...Beercan apparently almost got thrown out for the <edited> logo on his truck (thanks, Rich, for your help with my pop-up awning), the flake was really popping on RoadChief's Mustang, BillD was supposed to call in, reportedly to rub it in that it was cooler in FL today than up here....

I did attempt to call Sean around 1:36, apparently the phone was turned off. I believe we are rather close in temperautres lately.

I realize holland_patrick didn't mention that this was the Poorboy's World Detailing Weekend. That's the parking lot of a car dealer in West Haverstraw, NY (Poorboy's neck of the woods). Although this event was "advertised" in Poorboy's forum on DC, there were a number of Autopians, including GSRstilez, holland_patrick, Beercan31, JohnnyDaJackal, Focusedonsound, and probably some others I'm forgetting. I'm sure Pat will give an update on the second day.

Saturday was a lot of fun! I really enjoyed meeting many of the people i have previously chatted with. I also enjoyed seeing everyones' cars, and watching as they detailed them with great skill. Dinner was very enjoyable as well!! I took some pics...I will post pics at a later date!

What a great event, got to meet some really cool people. Big Thanks to Steve(Poorboy's) for hosting such a cool event :bigups :bow

Here are my pictures from Saturday's event. Some of the username's might look different or unfamiliar because they are members of DC.

Did you come after 3? I know there were only a couple girls at the event, did you come with Setec or were you helping out Steve and Marj?

Amazing time :D.

I posted my full response in the other thread, so here are my select pictures.

The main setup

Beercan31's test panel complete with overspray, spray paint spots, heavy contaminants, swirls, etc.

DSC05837.jpg

After a group effort with clay, wetsanding (2000, then 3000), Poorboy's Pro Polish with the wool pad on the rotary at 1700-1900 rpm x 2 , Poorboy's Pro Polish with the final finising pad via rotary at 1200-1500 rpm x 2, PwC Blue by hand, Natty's Blue by hand spit shined with Spray and Gloss. It could've used another pass with the polish as there was some spot marring here and there but I think our group effort showed what could be done with bad paint.

Last, but certainly not least, my girlfriend, Liz, on the rotary :).

Good to see Deanski is still active. How's he been? I've missed reading his posts and seeing his beautiful specimen of my car's successor.

Here are the pics I promised! :hifive:
