Poorboy's EX-P

Never used the label zealot.

Tony, as you well know I love Zaino and even mentioned my experiment with EX-P as a topper over it in this thread. Have written about how I use Zaino for long trips because of its low maintenence requirements. And I love its appearance without question. So this isn't about Zaino the product.

With that said you are probably correct. I do believe if the durability statement by Zane stated Klasse instead of Zaino I would not have written anything. My bad :o

I am just an old Zaino user tired of a fine product getting a bad rap. :xyxthumbs

Tony-next time you wash your car, blast it with the hose across the hood and you should get a strong sheeting action. I think EX-P sheets better than NXT Wax using NXT wash.

I used Eagle One WET, and it sheets like crazy! It almost looked like there was no protection until all of the water was gone.

Edwin, nah, it's my bad! I just haven't had my second cup of coffee yet and my co-workers are nagging me here at the office! :) Thanks for the explanation.

Scottwax, I'll try that!

Edwin - My question really had nothing to do with a Zaino plug or dig on another product. I haven't used Zaino on any car in over 6 months. I want a product with the durability of Zaino with a different final appearance. I want this durability for the same reason you do...other people's cars.

I really don't see how my detailing habits have anything to do with other people's experience with EX-P. Hope I've explained myself enough to get an answer.

I did a car with EX-P about 2 months ago. It's a great product. Goes on nice and comes off pretty easy and like someone mentioned, doesn't seem to attract dust. I thought EX was a bit of a dust magnet but EX-P surely isnt.

Even after 2 months I'm still seeing beading on the car I did with it. Some of the sheeting effect some people have mentioned seems to have faded but the car still looks great and beads well.

:xyxthumbs for EX-P!!

Zane,

As I posted to Tony, my bad.:o

As you know at our Z car forums every detailing discussion eventually turn into a Zaino comparison thread. I jumped into the pool without checking the water first. All I read was: "Yes, EX-P looks great but will it last like my Zaino?" Let's face it, few products last like Zaino and Klasse with minimal care (Z7 wash and Z6 QD and you are good for a while). Will EX-P join this elite pair? Hopefully, but only time will tell.

As I stated to another member today, I just forgot to put on my Kevlar skin on this morning. The moment I saw a Zaino-zealot-like intrusion I jumped.

As BradE mentioned you really had no need to justify your reason(s) for desired durability. I am just very anal about my Z especially, and I could not see you being any less by only maintain your finish every 6 months. GM paint is definitely very labor and frequency demanding fellow. From that I saw the plug.

My apologies for mis-interpreting your question. :bow

Wow this foot doesn't taste very good!! :D

It's not a problem. :) I am by no means a Zaino Zealot or even Zaino freak. I was very loyal until I came here and disspelled many of the myths.

You should come help me on LS1tech.com - I get ganged up on and then called a whiner and told I have a bad attitude for standing behind my beliefs. I've especially been railroaded by an Autopian.

Zane,

I consider myself a reasonally brave fellow and a good teacher but that is a mighty big gang over there. ;)

I do commend them for their conviction to a very fine product even at the expense of the other fine products that can be used with or at different times with Zaino. Remember when MF's were introduced a couple of years ago and the resistance to switching from 100% USA cotton? Pure heresy!!!

I'll leave it at that. :wavey

I just skipped all the posts with the arugments about Zaino. We don't need it here especially in a thread about a completely different product.

Oh and BTW, love the bubblegum smell of the SSR2.5! :xyxthumbs

LOL, I was talking about that with Steve right after I got my order in. He wants all his stuff to smell good.

I still haven't tried my SSR 2.5 out yet. Going to give it a shot tomorrow. I start worked on my truck when I got time this afternoon but it started misting and I just gave up... Getting really tired of this rain. Guess I need to move out of the swamp.

Wow, definitly picking up some EX-P for my Milano red paint. I got a question though, has anyone tried to top this sealent with a pure wax? How did that change apperence or any other qualities? (looking into S100 as a topper myself)

Well if that was his aim he did VERY well IMO :xyxthumbs

Fingers crossed I get to give my EX-P a run this weekend. Im hoping that the VM gets here in time, but if not I guess I will have to give GEPC or #7 a run under it...

But reading about all these positive EX-P reviews has got me all excited to use it! Thats what I love about Autopia. Had it not been for here, I would have NEVER known about it

Oh yes you can top it! After it cures fully, topping it with a carnuba will add more depth and it will cut some of the brightness due to carnubas way it refracts light as opposed to EX-P. Still, last time when I topped Zaino with Souveran, it was still bright to a degree, but very wet & deep.

It was by chance I thew EX-P on top of the WG I had previous. Nice effect.

The pics really do not due justice as they were shot at 640 so I could post them.

Well based on the advice of Scottwax, I will probably go the other way around with WG on EX-P, due to the lower solvent content of the WG in comparison to the EX-P. Not the most ideal way to go as I believe the EX-P has better durability. But I will probably get bored and top with PS or S100, so the WG durability will be a non issue! :p

"Don't be callin me no Zaino zealot fool"- Mr.T

You know I had been procrastinating about getting my PC cause I have the pads and have the VM+EX-P but since its rained almost over 2 weeks here in Houston, it kinda of demotivates you. That pick Deanski has inspired me to get on top of that this weekend rain or shine that simply looks awesome on your red :xyxthumbs . So you do have WG under the EX-P on those pics and what else? If the pics don't do it justice I can't imagine in person]:shocked !!!!

Yes it was one of those "Well let's see, I already have WG on it now, should I strip it and do the swirls now or just add the EX-P on top even if EX-P has petro in it.."

So, back-asswards, I put the EX-P on top of WG. You see the results, and this is with pics at 640! Higher res looks a lot better!

Normally I would have done EX-P THEN WG. So much for that thought!

I just got my spray bottle of 1Z Lackfinish today, so I'll try that over the EX-P. Then if I'm in the mood, maybe I will top the EX-P with Souveran Paste to really see how deeper/wetter I can get it! Adding Souveran over all this should be quite sick looking!

That reminds me, one of my condo neighbors has my other can of Souveran and 1Z Perls wash. Wonder if they tried it on her two cars. I know Pete topped his black Z06 Vette that had Zaino on it and was just stunned! He went right back inside I hear to order his own can of Souveran! I told his wife, don't bother, use the one I gave you to try and make sure prior to purchasing it. Dying to see the Vette, he keeps it off-site damn it! It must be a rolling black pool!!

I have to upload more pics in my gallery soon so everyone can see the result.

As of today, it still has Megs LT used for a QD, but that will change quickly now I have Lackfinish. I have to try the EX-P on the wheels as Steve said it will help cut down on removal of brake dust. Those wheels are the stock ones, but the newer 2004-05 "star" covers. Lexus wanted $425 for four plastic covers:shocked I got my covers from one guy on E-Bay for a lot less and they were in the factory box with new bolts and instructions!

Once I try the Lackfinish, I'll take more pics and see if I can also increase the resolution so it's sharper. Garage pic with broom reflecting should be even better!!

Have fun with your EX-P guys!!!

Regards,

Deanski

I don't see any picures..?? WG is a wax right? how about putting S100 wax underneath it(after S100 SECP), layer EX-P 2-3x, then top again w/ S100(or your fav. wax)?

Go to the 1st page of this thread and you'll see them.

EX-P is the pure sealant, so in that you would want to put the EX-P on prior to any waxes or it will not bond to the finish. However, you CAN top it with a wax, after say, 24hours just to make sure the EX-P has setup.

It was an experiment that I was testing (EX-P over WG Sealant) and it seems OK.

Lackfinish after cutting 1:1 with Distilled water seemed to drag a bit. Finish was OK, not as slick as some other QD's. So, I wipped out the Zaino Z6 to QD the EX-P. Not bad at all! That works as well as Megs LT/FD, Cleakote QS etc.

Deanski
