Poorboy's Detailing Day Reflections

Bill D:

Sorry you missed it too:( Sure was a good day and lots of good people!

The Acura Integra that Sean had went out looking like new! He spent all morning taping, then out came the Makita rotary and he took his time. Boy it looks nice now!

Same can be said for all the cars! They ALL spent time going over them, working them with 2.5 or less and ended up with some perfect finishes!

Everyone was picking everyone elses brain for thoughts to problems and how they would resolve it.

Let's hope there's another one soon that you can get to!

Let me know how things work for you with the polishes! I'm on cell all day so if you run into an issue, call me. Good that your testing the raction of the polishes first, this can save you headaches later!

Have a good day!

Regards,
Deanski

Didn't The Fuzz make it in time? He called me from the dealership this morning wondering where everyone is at? :dunno

I thought i saw a Camaro this morning, with this skinny long haired guy kicking a flat tire. There were four fine ladies working the jack and rolling out the spare while this guy was watching:naughty. This was this when taking the kids to school today:lmfao

My pleasure!!! Since you seem to have the sharpest eye, I'll do that for you if you choose to evaluate it. Not much of a drive for me....

Intresting thought... Natty's over/on top of Souveran... Remember, it has EX-P under the new Natty's now.

Steve better get some boxes ready for me I'm going to order several items that I missed out purchasing that day.

BTW, What did you day you use on the Beemer Leather? As you can see, having Ecru interior has it's downfalls. The biggest is when the top is down, more road dust (very fine too) end up in the back seat area. I clean all the time with Woolite 6:1 as it works very well and it's cheap!

Thanks for all the info on products!

Regards,
Deanski
I am just curious to know how different the Natty's over Souveran combo would be from using either as a stand alone topper. EX-P underneath is perfect as that product is clear enough to not unduly influence the color of the topper. No need for you to drive over for me to personally look at the results. I'd just appreciate it if you would let me know if there is any noticeable change in appearance. My main reason for considering this combo is a quandary that I'm having with my neighbor's Orient Blue (dark blue metallic) BMW. I had been using Natty's as a topper on that car. When Souveran was being offered at a deep discount last month, I finally decided to buy a jar. During my first round of experiments, I did not perceive any advantage to using the Souveran (as opposed to either Natty's or S100) on most of my test vehicles, but the dark blue BMW was one that did respond favorably to Souveran. So, I applied Souveran (over EX-P) to that entire car. It looked fantastic. Unfortunately, the car turned into a huge dust magnet. Soooooo... what I'm trying to achieve is getting the look of Souveran with the dust repelling properties of Natty's for that particular car.

Regarding my choice of leather conditioners - I am a recent convert to using 4* Ultimate Leather Conditioner on my BMW seats. That car's leather was always a little rough to the touch, so I tried to find a conditioner that would make it softer without being greasy or sticky. The 4* really fits that bill for me. However, on my Boxster's seats, I use Poorboy's Natural Look. Being a convertible, it has the same problems you're facing with the SC430. The Boxster's leather is already reasonably soft, so I looked for a product that had UV protection as well as some cleaning properties (saves me from needing to do a separate cleaning step). Natural Look is a winner here.

Jeff I've had numerous requests for similar days, and will consider more for next year. What most people don't realize is the tremendous amount of preparation that went into this , especially all the countless and thankless hours Marj did :bow
Lucky for you that playing with detailing products is one of my favorite hobbies. :-p When you enjoy something, it doesn't seem like much work (even when it really does take up a lot of time and energy). :)

Who had the Edge pads? Which ones were they? I also here Lake has some new ones for rotary coming out, or already released.
GSRStilez was using the Edge Classic pads for the rotary. ScottP showed me some new pads that reminded me of Lake Country foam and construction, but it wasn't a model I remember seeing before.

I got to the event early and stayed late too in the hopes of having some quality time with Fuzz, but he stood me up. I'm so disappointed. :boohoo

But, I just can't believe that he stood me up. ME! I don't know how my ego will survive this. ;)

BTW - I found a guinea pig for a Natty's over Souveran experiment. My neighbor with the BMW also has a burgundy Acura which picked up a few new scratches last week. If the weather holds out, I'll have a chance to work on it tomorrow. That should be a good test vehicle. It's dark and red.

Good deal!:bigups Let me know as the back end of the SC430 between the spoiler and trunk gets the most dust. Love to see if it repels or just not as dusty. The only other place that get dust as much is the back seat area!

Dino, could you also try Natty with Trade secret as well , 2 coats if possible as I found out TS looks best after 2 coats...oh forgot the word please :dj

I might try the Souveran versus Natty Wax thing on my car when I get around to working on it. Hopefully I can play with it tonight. But, whenever I think about geting my car into the garage to detail it, I realize how much of a mees the garage is and i get sidetracked cleaning it. :(
