Poorboy's CarWash

Whaler Wash is an excellent idea! By the way I agree with the high lubricity. Afterall The Whaler is one slick dude.:D

The other concern is how much cleaning ability? Too much could strip sealants or waxes. Unless im mistaken, the low foam would be for cleaning w/o stripping. not sure yet about the high foam. Could be just me, but it feels like there may be some stripping involved with the high foam version?:dunno

Finally had a chance to take the car out to a gas station with very good lighting. Doesn't look like there were any new scratches introduced which was a good thing. I did manage to take a good look at a section i must have missed down toward the bottom of the passenger fender, and I can see a big difference between that and the rest of the panel. So the HF shampoo does cut through the grime and dirt pretty good. I know this because this fender was dirty half way up from the bottom with some light mud and other crap. I rubbed my hand on a few other inconspicuos sections that I know and could see were cleaned, and they defintely do not feel slick; they feel clean, smooth, and a bit grabby as well.

So far, the high foam is looking more like a power cleaner, or Wolfgang is losing, or, just lost it's effectiveness all on it's own.

I tried both the high foam and high lubricity versions at the PB's Detailing day. The high foam did exactly that foamed a lot and left a grabbier finish vs the high lubricity which left a slick finish.

If I were one to wash my car once a month or especially when the car was very dirty (winter salt) then the high foam would be my choice. The high lubricity (slick version) would be my choice as a more frequent wash on a car that was in good condition.

PB's Car West Test from my earlier post

Just finished a wash of a few cars with 3 diff washes, each car was washed in 3 parts, hood/front, top/doors, trunk/rear-end. A separate WW towel was used for each product

PB's Slick wash (or whatever name you arrive for it)
NXT Wash
Sonus Gloss Concentrated Shampoo

The NXT is a very thick wash, with the PB's being next, the Sonus is the thinnest. Using equal amounts of product in a bucket the PB's created the most suds, the Sonus looked almost to thin of a mixture to wash a car, but we proceeded to test each product ounce for ounce.

Washing the cars showed that the PB's seemed to glide over the surface of the car, the NXT looked to have stronger cleansers and the Sonus looked very watery (no suds on the surface), but slid over the surface much like the PB's.

All 3 products cleaned up the vehicles very well, all cars were all in pretty decent condition, all had at least 1 coat of a carnauba wax on them for no more than 1 week.

When dry it was consistent with all 3 cars that the PB's side felt slicker, followed closely by the Sonus. The NXT dried surface was clearly the least slickest, we all felt that a fair amount of the wax was removed from the cars by the NXT wash.

Bottom Line:

For very little product the PB's wash had good sudsing action, cleaned well kept cars and left a nice slick finish when dried. A very nice product, and my choice going forward.

The Sonus would be next in line of preference but only with using more product to get more suds, washing a car with no suds seems wrong, but we were comparing equal amounts and the label of the Sonus does say concentrated.

The NXT seemed to be better suited for a very dirty/grimy surface, where you did not care if any wax or sealer was removed during the wash.

Good thing a little PB's goes a long way, I have to make my sample last till the real stuff hits the streets !!

I hope I speak for most when I say I'd much rather have a high lubricity soap vs one that just make a lot of bubbles.

Absolutely! :bigups

Suds do nothing for the ability of the wash.

My 2 cents:cool

I agree, slicker and less suds. I have not used or been sent a sample, but prefer slick washes. Slicker the better for the winter washes.

I am patiently waiting for the PB car wash to hit the open market.

Quick lil update...

Been raining like cats and dogs here in the city. When I got to my car after work, I could still see that there was still very tight beading on the panels, intermixed with some larger, but even sized beads. A light touch to the hood with my fingers stills has a smooth and grabby feel. Even the windsheild, which had been treated a while ago with glass cleaner and rainx, still has small, even sized beads running down the glass. At speed, the water drops wisked away, but not as hard as it used to prior to the high foam wash.

So it looks like I may have been a little premature in my commments about the power of this product. there is defintely still something on the panels and the glass- just not sure if this is from the shampoo, or the stuff I've used before the wash.
