Poly versus wax

rtbrick

Hoping for a sunny day
What are the pros, cons and opinions on polymers versus regular waxes? Polymers have very good shine qualities and last a good while. Waxes, such as Trade Secret and P21S, seem to have a great shine (better?), but will not last nearly as long. What makes a detailer choose one over the other? Are all polymers created equal? What about carnuba waxes (what would make me pay $32 for Trade Secret?)?

Actually, the Trade Secret has some polymers in it, as does the EX, and both are "layerable"!

I guess the main reason you may want to pay $32 for it, is to try and get a little extra "Umph" on your vehicle! Then again, it is a lot to pay for a little extra "Umph" that you may or may not get!

Anyhow, I figured if the TS was good enough for Anthony, then it's worth a try!
:D

I have Pinnacle souvran and s100 and both do put a little "UMMMFF" .in it...but man i see dust the next day..

Dwayne, I'm flattered by your opinion of me. Why, I'm still so new around here and all....:D

So the carnuba products attract dust and the polys don't (to an extent anyway)? What do you do about the dust other than re-wash daily? A QD or spray n wipe, I expect.

I don't mind spending the dough on my vehicles. I just want to know what I'm getting for it. There's too much knowledge on this forum not to ask the dumb questions. Most of the time I get the answer. :D

JefBruce, so where in MD are you? I'm in between Baltimore and DC.

Kids..Works...vacation.....not enough detailing...Neighbors having family party tonight...some of um park'd in front of my house...I thought about detailing umm....Should put a sign in front of my house...WARNING..PARK HERE AND YOUR VEHICLE MAY GET DETAIL'D"

I work in Columbia..thats half way between Balto-and DC

For sure you will see more dust on a carnauba finish than on a UPP finish. And yes, a QD or S & W will be required more frequently. The good news is............ the light colors don't show the dust like the darker colors. (see, there is a bright side to owning a lighter color vehicle) :D

Boss, you're sure right about the light colors hiding dust! I have a buddy that has one of those new Dodge Hemi trucks in black. Beautiful truck, but I think he washes it every morning!

I just ordered some EX to try as a topper to the UPP.

JeffBruce-I am at Ft Meade. I'll shoot you a PM.
