Polishing over vinyl lettering

ruining

Today I'm doing my buddy's Scion xB. It's black and he has quite a few white vinyl stickers on his car. Do I need to really avoid these stickers when doing polishing, or should they be okay with and orange/white CCS pads and Menzerna IP/FPII with PC?

Thanks.

Are you using a rotary or PC/cyclo? Witha rotary I wouldn't go near them unless you have a ton of experience, even then, a rotary can easily catch an edge and tear the decal. Via PC or cyclo, you should be fine but still want to be careful. The major issue is removing the build up of product that will catch on the edges. Major PITA to remove unless you wash after polishing and before applying sealant which may help a bit. You may still need to go in by hand and remove any excess.

I would just avoid the decals as much as possible to be honest with ya!

Thanks for the input. I read it before I did the car, but couldn't reply because my 'puter was freaking out and I didn't have time to wait for it to restart.

Yeah, you must not have seen in my original post that I was using PC. It came out fine when I went over it. I just went over it as little as possible.

The Scion xB is not a daily driver and he keeps EXCELLENT care of it, (accept the roof for some odd reason). The whole car was in pretty good shape and he waxes it everytime he washes it, but he's NEVER waxed the roof. ?!? So that gave me the opportunity to take out some swirls and water marks. The roof looked 100 times better. The rest of the car *pops* now, but was a little difficult to improve on. I wish I had taken pics.

Anyway, thank again.
