Polishing out bumper scuffs

Got some input from forum members and polished out my nasty ugly front bumper on my Tacoma.

Up until recently, I never looked at the front bumper. Didn't really care what it looked like. The other day I saw it in the sunlight and realized how neglected it was.

I learned that the bumper is painted and clear coated just like the paint on the body panels, so I just did the same procedure.

Meg's Smooth Surface Clay
DP RWAG Clay Lubricant
GG DA 5.5 LC CCS orange with Megs UC
GG DA 5.5 LC CCS white with Megs UP
Blue MF that came with my BF Wet Ice over Fire kit

Some of the spots wouldn't come out. They are below the surface. The pictures don't show the after gloss and shine very well, but overall, much improved. When there isn't a bright light blaring on it, it's looks quite good.

Great improvement from picture to picture you show there.:bigups Those rock chips or bugs will take they toll on any front bumper out there. One has to keep on top of it, to make sure it doesn't happen.

Nice job! I'm glad you were able to get most of it out. Front bumpers are definitely one area of the vehicle that take a beating.

I wouldn't be too quick to take a rotary to plastic bumpers unless you have plenty of experience with one.

Not only do front bumpers take a ton of abuse, but they can also be very difficult to work on because of all the different angles and tight spaces.

You definitely made that bumper look a whole lot better.:bigups

FWIW, I think the bumper turned out great. Bumpers, at least for me, can be a real PITA to correct.

Looks good. The Meguiars ultimate compound and polish are really nice stuff for over the counter.

thanks eddie. im pleased with the results. in addition to eliminating most of the swirl marks, claying and the UC/UP combo really brought out the shine. after the pics i finished it off with some optiseal which is my fav product for frot ends and wheels. really easy to work into all the different spaces.

thanks. i really like megs uc up, although i know they arent the sexiest products out there. i only maintain my own cars so i dont have opportunities to do too many corrections and dont have a lot of swirl removal products.

It looks great! Front bumpers (particularly on daily drivers) are one of those things where I like to maintain maximum clear coat thickness for all of the elements will have to battle through out its life.
