Let me open this up for thoughts? What polish/pad combos do you have success with in summer heat? It's freakin hot here in AZ. I'm not talking about direct sun, just hot days. What works for you? Foam? Wool? Menz? Meg? PC? Rotary? Diminishing? Non-diminishing? You see where I'm going.......Please chime in.

Today I worked on my mother-in-law's car in direct sun light. I used 3M Perfect-It Extra Cut Rubbing Compound (06060) on an orange pad for the trunk and hood, with my Flex. I then used 105 on an orange pad for the sides and did some light work with 205 on a green flat pad. The 3M dried quicker than the 105, so I to prevent that I kept lightly misting either the pad or panel. If the panel was drying out, then I misted it. If it was ok, then I just misted the pad to keep the product activated in it. It worked out pretty good. I just wish that there would have been just a bit of cloud cover. It got up to 99 here today.

I've polished in direct sunlight, and misted the pad. It does work out very well for me, because I can see my work so well in the sun.

I don't generally use this practice. Only if it's under 80 degrees.

I have, however polished indoors when it was close to 100 degrees in my garage. Misting helps, but it was absolutely miserable. (Sweat dripping, hard to breath, getting tired quickly, frequent water breaks.... etc.):out::scared:

I think that I must have drunk almost two gallons of water today. The humidity was terrible today.

I wish that I could have worked in the garage. I have one car with a flat tire and the slot is too small to work in because there is a work bench there.
I guess that I shouldn't complain too much. My mother in law has been making me some awesome meals these last days that she's been visiting. I also got to see how well the
3M compound works. The hood on her car was so oxidated that I'm not sure that 105 could have made quick work of it like 06060 did.

Does anyone know if older Toyota Corolla's have single stage paint? Her's is a 1998.

.

I've done many details in those conditions... 2 gallons of water... yup! KC may be further north than Texas, but we definitely have the heat and humidity!!!

When you stop sweating, you're in trouble!:banghead:

You guys just described detailing in AZ. I go through water like crazy. Thanks for your tips. I also got some advice from Phil at PAC. He suggested the new Menz polishes: Power Gloss, Power Finish, and Super Finish. I have Power Finish so I'll give that one a whirl.

togwt, I would like you to chime in on this. I read post you have at another site on pads. I am looking at the purple foamed wool thinking that quicker cut may help in heat as well. What do you think the best Menz (or meg) polishes are for this pad. I have PO85RD, PO203, PO83, Meg 105 and 205.

Thanks

Just finished up my mother in law's car a little while ago and now I'm taking a break for about an hour. A friend of mine is coming over with his Envoy and that should be fun. Because alot of his work involves visiting people on their farms, his vehicle is pretty dirty. I'm stocking the fridge now with water, lots of it. It's super hot here today. Working on his truck is going to be a challenge for me. I've never worked on vehicle that big and it's also black in color. (<---sarcasm)

I wish that I could find my camera so that I can take some pics. :(
