Polishing Headlights: UV Coating

I thought polishing headlamps was a routine here. Yet, it sounds more like rarity now that people are a bit apprehensive about sacrificing the UV coating. So most people don't hit the lenses when they correct the car?

Would applying 303 Aerospace Protectant on a regular basis (weekly) help them last? This stuff works great on vinyl and other things on boats, so maybe its UV 40 sunscreen would help prevent damage.

It couldn't hurt. Just the regular maintenance will help. Kinda like changing oil

at regular intervals. Or brushing your teeth regularly... Nothing is meant to last

forever and there are a myriad of products claiming to be the fountain of youth.

But do use a product designed for the job. And remember, it's not only about UV

ray damage. If you drive the car, it'll be exposed to whatever elements in the

environment (bird doo doo, oil, tar, grease, rocks, rain, etc.).

And, perhaps, the best protection would be a clear protective film...

I don't know if you want to apply 303 to smooth clear plastics. In my experience it just makes a mess of streaks and makes clear things cloudy. If you are able to get that all off eventually, I wonder if there is even any 303 left to give any protection as originally intended.
