Polishing hard black plastic trim

I thought this may have been asked before, but couldn't find anything by searching.

My exterior smooth, hard, black plastic trim (weatherstripping at the bottom of the windows) has gotten a little scratched up. Is it possible to polish this material? I have an assortment of polishes (PB's SSR1, 2, and 2.5, plus PB's PP), but don't want to pull the trigger if this kind of material can't be polished. Anyone have any success polishing out minor scratches in hard plastic trim? It isn't faded at all, just minor scratching (I have no idea from what :wall)

you can try the PP on a soft cloth .... do not use SSR's on them or you will get more scratches ...;)
 
I've used plastic polish but not from PB. I don't use it very often but I've used it on the hard plastic between the taillights on my Trans Am
 
I would say it depends on the trim itself. I have had some that polish up nicely, and others that don't. If it is painted, be careful. The paint is often very soft on those parts and you can burn through easily. I would try a test spot by hand and see how it goes. I wouldn't use a plastic polish if it is painted. A medium cut Menzerna polish should work, or Megs 205. I have had the best success with Menzerna Power Finish. (balanced; good cut/good finish.)
