Polishing Glass?

I cleaned the glass on my car yesterday, and noticed a few scratches on the drivers window. Then, when I cleaned my winshield, ohh my. Tiny "specs" likely tiny tiny chips or etching. It really kills the clean look when the sunlight makes these so noticable.

Is there a good product to polish the glass (by hand)? I saw all of poorboys SSR line says its OK on glass, and I imagine SSR 1 would do the job here, but I don't really know how well/safe polishing works on glass.

Also, any harm in claying the glass? Maybe some of what I see is junk "stuck" to it.

No harm in claying or polishing the glass. I think both would remove the film that gets on the windshield from normal driving. From what I understand, there's only so much you can do with the chips and such on glass, but maybe someone has a little better solution than that. Maybe a dedicated glass polish? :dunno

I don't know about the chips or etching as you put it, but I like to use Bar Keepers Friend when I have a windshield that is in bad shape. I just make sure to rinse well.

But I agree, claying works.

I have those little spots as well, there is really nothing you can do besides replacing the glass. I got my truck a couple years ago, and it had 18 years of abuse including these lovely little chips. The bad part is that when you polish the windshield, the little spots collect polish and become even more noticeable.
