polishing clear pvc pipe?

I had some clear pvc pipe laying around so thought it would be different to make a clear cold air tube. It looks pretty decent when it is cool but after driving around for a while the heat makes it foggy and it will stay that way until it sits for a few hours. Is there any way to stop this from happening? I know some guys polish their headlights to stop them from yellowing over. Maybe sanding, buffing and clear coating?

thanks

Clear pipe is most likely acrylic. These types of plastic can't take underhood heat very well and over time will start cracking or break down. There's no amount of polishing that will stop is from happening. The only thing that can withstand that kind of abuse is polycarbonate, and that stuff is going to be more difficult to find.
