Polishing Aluminum Tanker

SteaminPete

Wax On - Wax Off
I have friend with an aluminum oil tanker. He had someone acid wash,
polish it,and he is not happy with the lackluster finish that it has.
What do I need to bring this aluminum back to a high shine finish?.

Thanx,Pete

Lots of elbow grease.:D

How big is the tanker?

Sounds like your going to need a few gallons of good metal polish, a few drill attatchments and a bundle of rags.

You got any pics?

My best advice is to get your self a Cyclo and a Rotary polisher. The Cyclo was designed for this exact task many, many years ago, and still holds up to todays market with other machines.

here's a link to get you on your way..... be careful..... all aluminum is not the same. they have different pores and act differently to certain products.

Nuvite Aluminum Polish

Good luck and please let us know what you decided to do.... take lots of pictures..Before and after.
Thanks.

With no pics, sounds like it needs to be sanded. I'm about to polish a 43 foot oil tanker. If you need it fixed i'm here for you. Just let me know.

I dont think it nessisarily needs to be sanded. I would try some metal polish with a wool pad. Depending on the condition of the finish you may need to start with a more aggressive polish and then go back and finish with a finer polish

That is a task, but with the proper product for Aluminum you can put the look your looking for into it with the Blackfire Metal Polishing Products. Products like the Blackfire Heavy Cut Aluminum Compound, Blackfire Fine Cut Polish with the level 1-3 wool pads will make a heck of difference and topping it off with the BF Metal Show Polish with make the tank shine like crazy. Just remember to follow directions on these metal products.
