Polished my car today(before and after pics inside)

I recently tested and used the new Meguiar's NXT wax. The durability and shine of the wax are really good. It also has good swirl hiding capabilities. The downfall to this product is how easy it is to mar the surface with frequent washing. I wash my car 2 times a week and am in at least a car show every two weeks. So this wax isn't working for me.

So today I decided that it's time to get rid of the marring in my car and put something better over it. To get rid of the marring I used a Porter Cable 7336SP(from Lowe's) with a 6" Velcro backing plate, using a white polishing 7.5" pad from www.Topoftheline.com made by Lake Country. I was going to use my usual Menzerna Final Polish. I started out using it and got discouraged by how difficult it was to buff off. So I switched up to my Einszett Metallic Paint Polish and it was a whole lot easier and I quickly finished up the car effortlessly.

So I took some pics for you guys to show what my door looked like before and after, the marring was on the surface and wasn't deep at all, so it was easy to remove.

How exactly do you wash your car to get ALL those swirls?? :shocked

No wax will resist that! :scared

About the FP, the trick is to work it until it starts to dry, then wipe it off. (Tho 1Z MP is great too!)

Great job with those swirls!

I used Menzerna IP/FP yesterday for the first time and didn't have any problems at all. I think the key to it is to keep working it until it is totally dry. Then it's a breeze to buff off.

My FP used to work. I used it on my Dad's corvette and it didn't work well. I tried working it in longer, wiping it sooner, wiping it later.......no matter what I tried I still got stubborn spots. With 1Z I had no trouble at all. It'll prolly be long time before I pick up Menzerna again, especially with 1z sitting next to it.

I use QEW wash and switch to a new mitt every wash or two, always using multiple wash mitts, light pressure, and clean WW drying towels. It's not my method because my Klasse survived allot more washing than NXT did. IMO NXT is soft. Or it may be just the booster wax, I don't know......but I'm prolly not gonna use it again on my car or any other black cars. I'm gonna keep using the same methods with Klasse(what I'm gonna wax it with), so I'll be able to see if it was NXT or not in a month or so. So it definitely isn't a fact that NXT is soft but, it's just my opinion at the moment.

Well the main difference is that Metallic Paint Polish has abrasives and works just like any other polish. Metallic paint polish will remove more blemishes than AIO. AIO is a cleaner with no abrasives.

I agree with Dinzdale40. It seems that nxt gets marred easier than any other products i've used. maybe the layer of the nxt is softer than a carnuba wax which makes it easier to mar?

Or maybe harder?, that's why it mars. I find Zaino mars easily.

Nice work! My car is currently in the same shape with the swirls on the doors. I'll be ordering a PC and am now definately going with the 1Z polished. Great results!

Dinzdale40,

Great job on polishing black paint! :bow :bow :bow

Also, great post as well. I just love a shiny black car!

Cheers,

I dont understand if you use QEW in the process that you describe, how you get that many swirls. Call me ignorant or whatever, but scottwax doesnt get those results (i think) along with a plethory of others. Whats the deal? I just ordered some, but if its gonna marr up my paint like that, i dont know if i want it anymore

I never implied it was QEW's fault. If you reread my post I think you'll see what I think went wrong. Even though it isn't backed up by facts at the moment, I will find out soon enough.
