polished lip with clear coat help

What's the best way to polish and remove scratches from polished lips which are clear coated? Mothers aluminum polish doesn't do a thing and neither does NeverDull. Since it's clear coated do I have to wet sand it a bit and use what I would on the paint of a car that's clear coated?

Use a paint polish

+1 If it's clear coated like paint, treat it accordingly. Metal polishes only work on uncoated metal.
