Polish to use on white Bravada?

Hi everyone, I'm going to help a friend polish his 2000 Olds Bravada. It's gloss white paint (same white that's used on S10's and Blazers, seemed to have a clear coat), and I tried some Hi-Temp Medium Cut with my PC on 5 1/2, and the swirls stayed in the pant...I got virtually no swirl removal. My technique is decent, because I removed the swirls in my Accord using the same methods and products. Do I just need a more aggressive polish? Is this paint too hard to correct with Hi-Temp Medium Cut and a 6" LC white CCS pad on my PC? Thanks.

GM paint is usually hard, and Honda paint is usually considered soft. So based on that you'll need to be more aggressive with the truck. Do you have an orange pad? That would be the thing I'd try next. Then moving up in aggressiveness you would need to go to a yellow cutting pad and/or a heavier compound.

Are you sure it's c/c? I thought my Alfa's white paint was c/c when I first bought it...after trying to polish it I realised it wasn't.

I'm pretty sure it has a clear coat. My pad didn't have any white residue on it (it was a white pad, but still, I could see the pink polish residue on it). I have a hard time believing a simple change in pad will remove the swirls that I couldn't touch previously. Is this really the case, or will I need to step up to a heavier-cut polish as well? (I'm asking this now because if I have to order more pads, I'll want to order polish at the same time if I need it to cut down on shipping.)

A simple pad change is no different to a simple polish change.

Go up a step in cutting ability with either one and you'll see a difference.

I polished my white truck this weekend. I was using a white pad w/ Optimum Polish. It wasnt removing the swirls. I stepped up to an orange pad and it took care of all the swirls. I was about to try OC but I figured I would try OP with an orange pad first.

Okay, update on the Bravada: I bought a couple 6.5" orange LC CCS pads. I used those with my PC on 5.5, along with Hi-Temp Medium Cut polish. Well, I got through some of the swirls, but not enough to justify doing the whole car (it's really hard to see what progress you're making on gloss white paint on a cloudy day :lol ). Should I just give up on this one for now (since I don't want to buy more products at the moment)?
