Looking to find the better polishes that gives an AUTOPIAN type shine, for use with a DA machine. Oh and a good base for the Poly-sealants.

Not really... If you don't feel confident enough, you may go lower...
Now I'm really confused . . . in general, I had the impression that safe polishing speeds are in the 1000 - 1800 range (depending on pad and polish choice). Heck, I think my Makita only goes as high as 3000.

What model is it ? Mine goes up to 6000 ??? I only make sure I use lots of QD or distilled / demineralised water... However, make sure you readd the pad's package first before using it. The package indicates the highest rev you can use it with...

And I'll tell you; if I were to labor with 1800 RPM, I'd not invest in a rotary. An orbital delivers the same rev band anyway... I suppose a PC7424 is way cheaper than a Makita 9227 CA...??

No I am not kidding. Why would it sound so weird when you have garages using pneumatic rotaries operating at 9000 RPM with no speed control ?? And they perfectly well use that instrument to buff your paint.

Yes, I do use 4000 RPM and yes again, I practiced on many panels ad hoods, trunks I bought from a junkyard before I started using the rotary with fear of harming the paint.

I also discovered during these trials that a low speed setting fools you into an "oversafe"

Most forgiving polish for a DA? I'd try Mothers Power Polish. Easy to use, has a long working time, and yields very nice results.

I also discovered during these trials that a low speed setting fools you into an "oversafe" mode where you tend to put too much pressure and so on, swirling the crap out of the paint instead of doing good...

So with the high revs, you do not press but gently touch at an angle. And the results as you can see below are delivered with this mehod of mine :

What about sling? How fast does the polish break down? What products have you used? How long are you buffing a particular area? Have you measured using a guage before and after?

a) Sling ? I don't know what that means...

b) Pretty fast, about 4-5 secs after you hit it. You actually see it start hazing when you move on to another section. (Cooling down real fast after you apply it.)

c) Generally Meg' s range, 3M or Sonax Nano Series (Machine applicable.)

d) Straight panels about 20 secs, corners no longer than 5-7 secs.

e) Yes, I had the paint measured in the dealer' s garage twice before and after. No serious abrassion reported. The dealer's garage did not even warn about noticeable thinning to worry about the corrosion waranty. (and Hyundai is REAL serious with their waranty.)

Well I can answer "sling" as soon as you let me know what it means...

No, I mean pictures where the sun is shining DIRECTLY into the paint. No wax or glaze on those please.

No, as you can see, you generally see reflections of the pavement and surrounding buildings.

One of the ways to check your work is in full sun where the sun shines directly into the paint. I can make pretty much any car with clean paint and wax reflect and be swirled to hell and back. Put the car in direct sun and take a picture of the reflection of the sun.
