polish/compound selection vs rotary/ROB/Cyclo

I been a long time user of the PC7336 and just invested in a used Mak that I purchased from Ranney and I cant wait to use it. After trying to research and do alot of reading on the different pads and polish/compounds, would it be safe to say that if using a rotary, then wool/FW pads would be better suited to use since it doesnt create alot of heat where as using a ROB/Cyclo is better to use with foam pads?

I was just thinking that since using a rotary with foam pads create more heat and not so much with wool/FW, there is more margin of error as compared to using foam. If its safe to say the least, then youd need more heat to break down the abrasives in the polish or compounds to work effectively if using a ROB/Cyclo, right? Just looking for input/advice and or recommendations from ALL who have used both with desirable...or not so desirable results.
