Polish and Glaze under Zaino.

Can Zaino go directly over polish or galze.? Or do I need to wash after polishing and/or glazing before applying Zaino.?

It depends on the brand of polish. I would say no to the glazes. Glazes typically have oils and fillers which Zaino will not bond to.

If you are too concerned, you can wipe down the car with a 50/50 alcohol/water solution.

What polish are you using?

Some Zaino-friendly polishes are Menzerna and Poorboys if you haven't gotten one already.

I was looking at getting Menzerna Final polish.

Should i wash the car after polishing or put the Zaino on immediatly affter polishing.

Whats your opinion on using Zaino with a PC?

I'd say use the PC for the prep and apply the Zaino by hand. You would probably waste alot of polish that way and it likes thin coats.

Applying Zaino with a PC doesn't waste as much as you'd think. Once the pad is loaded it uses very little product. I've done it plenty of times, it's especially helpful on large vehicles. You can get very thin coats by machine, which is helpful for Zaino newbies that don't have thier technique by hand down quite yet.

Intercooled, this should help give you some ideas on Z with a PC. http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=10708&highlight=zaino+by+machine

I actually just did this today....usually I get about 3 layers per ounce. I only used about 2/3 of an ounce! I did 3 layers, then all my wheels and windows, and still had enough for one layer left....had to rinse it out :(

Anyways, I used my PC and a black finishing pad dampened with Z6 :xyxthumbs

Menzerna Final Polish won't remove very serious imperfections. I would suggest getting some Menzerna Intensive Polish, also.

You can go straight from Final Polish to Zaino without a problem.

It prefectly ok to go straight to Zaino if the glaze or polish you use contains on oils or silicone products. If they do just do a alcohol wipedown.

I normally wash my vehicles down after a serious polishing session to remove all the polishing dust from nocks and crannies and also to do a final inspection of my work ( in most cases will remove any cheating filling activity). I follow with a Z6 QD spritzed MF wipedown and proceed with Zaino.

Menzerna twins work great with Zaino and hopefully Zaino will be coming out with their own SMR and this polish usage question will be muted.

Thanks guys for all your insight I just orderd some Menzerna Final polish II and a PC with proper pads. My paint is pretty darn good. Just had it painted 2 years ago and I dont drive it very much. It's just starting to show some minor marks and swirls from QDing all the time.

I read the product section on the Menzerna FPII and it says it has some oil in it for a greater gloss, as opposed to the oroginal Final Polish. Will Zaino apply properly over the FPII?

You can always wash down the car with Dawn or equivelent before applying your first coat of Zaino as a safety precaution. On second thought, it might be a good idea to do that anyways to get your surface cleaned off of any dust or contaminates. The polish is being used to prep your paint in your case, so let Zaino create your SHINE:D

I am a big fan of the Menzerna polishes because it basically has zero fillers.

Never used Poorboy products but I may try the SSR line someday.

Question. Why is Poorboys Zaino-friendly? Is it w/o oils and fillers?

in a previous post "menzerna arrggg" answered my question.

'The Poorboy's SSR line does not contain fillers. It will work fine under Zaino.'

Ask, search, read and u shall receive!

Thanks Scott.
