Polish a new car?

Since u r on autopia, 1 should ALWAYS polish after claying.

I've been out of the detailing for a while now so I'll ask, why always polish after clay? Where does the Menz. 106 fall as far as aggressiveness? Is it pretty mild and safe under most circumstances? I'm just glad the entire roof is glass so its one less panel ;-) I don't want to introduce any paint issues.

Claying can induce light marring, so a polish afterward would clean any marring from the clay. FWIW, I've heard newer Hyundais have pretty good factory paint. Congrats on the new car.

Thanks! The paint looks great so maybe I'll use PO85RD (instead of 106) with a finishing pad after clay. Its about as light a cut I can get according to Menzerna's super confusing and convoluted labelling system. I don't want to introduce any defects into the paint and I think this may be my safest option unless anyone else has some suggestions. Now unless the Hyundai clear is rock hard then maybe the 106 would be best and save the 85 for my soft Harley paint............

Hi Cruz. Have fun and be safe with your ride.

Have a look on a review for the black light. Take the time to also read the Q&A.

From the looks of it you could be fine with just using that as an AIO. Of course some finishing polish on a finishing pad never hurt the gloss :)

Thanks for the link. I decided I'm going to polish with Menzerna 85 with a grey pad, and then follow up with blacklight then 50/50. I'll post pics when I'm done. Thanks for all the advice. FWIW, Menzerna needs a new marketing director ;)
