Dang! Look at the battering ram on the front of that cruiser. You see those on 4 wheelers but a police cruiser? They must plan on hitting something.

Yea....they need them around here. Some cannot drive. But then again.....they like to get rough with the folks on the bad side of town.

Umm.... where have you been?? :boot Actually most cruisers have impact bars on them. Go search eBay for P71 crown vics, I guarantee you that most of them will have some form of those installed.

I'd love to know the circumstances of that crash, though. It looks like the cruiser checked that grand prix into something, but I can't tell what from the pics.

I just hope the officer and the people in the Grand Prix are ok. Do you think those dents will buff out?

I live in Kentucky. I have never seen these impact bars on any cruisers here or anywhere I have traveled. I have seen them on shows on TV that show high speed chases. No, I do not travel a lot. But, From Ohio down to Florida. I have never seen them on Police cruisers.

We have them on the cruiser at work and were a university:rolleyes: .For are cops we need to put them on the back becuase these idiots back into everything.

This is at an intersection, so it looks like someone ran the red light. The guy sitting on the curb looking at the damage was probably the other driver. Almost all state police and some county/city police have these bars on the front. The bars are called push bars, and are used for pursuits. The bars cut down on damage to the cruiser when used correctly during a pit maneuver.

Must have had your eyes closed through Georgia & Alabama. ;)

Anybody know what state or area that's in? I see the guy (probably the other driver) is in uniform... just looking out for my guys-

Somewhere between Killeen & Temple, TX, I would think.

And some of the cruisers here in Lexington, KY have them. As has been noted, they're pretty common.

Definitely looks like the Grand Prix was teh vitim of a PIT by the cruiser, then it went headfirst into something...maybe the cruiser, if he didn't steer away/brake soon enough....

blue skies,
Andrew

A lot of cruisers around here have push-bumpers. I thought it was pretty common around the country.

It looks like the black car had a green light and the officer, with his lights on, went through the red. The black car couldn't stop in time and BAM! Cops around here are always driving reckless, with or without their lightbars on. The officer is still responsible for driving safely when he has his lights on. Of course they will right this one up as the black car speeding, so the officer is not at fault and avoid taking witnesses comments that prove the officer wrong. I know from experience.

If that is true, that would be one hell of a PIT. I would think to cause that much damage to the cruiser during a PIT, he wouldn't have been able to control the car and driven off the road himself.

Texas, anything on the news about a chase?

Yes they can bash things with those bars. But more often, they push disabled cars out of the way with them.
